    Thursday

Well that was a kick in the sack last night especially on a game that closed at my preferred site at 3'. For the record I think that was the third or fourth time I have been burned by the dog getting the cover but not the W when I had the ML in the last couple of weeks. Hopefully that's done with

    Texas +165 5 Units
    Under 46 2 Units

Once this line came out it seemed everyone and their brother was on Alabama. How they were from the SEC and they beat up on Florida and Texas looked so bad against Nebraska. I think perception versus reality leaves a lot of value on Texas tonight. Alabama did look great against Florida but that is a matchup where they have the physical ability to stop Florida's running game and when Florida is one dimensional that is terrible for them. Florida helped cement how good Alabama is by rolling a physically and mentally overmatched Cincy team. Texas on the other hand "got lucky" against what appears to be a great Nebraska defense. They have the physical ability to play with anyone in the country and they played great in the Big 12 championship. But all season Texas has shown explosiveness and consistency on offense as well as talent on D. Their defense is certainly physical enough to matchup with Bama's offense and I expect a better effort out of their offense and specifically their OL after hearing for a month how bad they are. This reminds me a little of the USC/UT NC game, except they aren't talking about an all time great team. In that game it was just a formality that USC would win and this reminds me of that. As even in upstate NY I am not able to find anyone who doesn't think Bama will roll. I like Texas for 20-24 points and Bama for 13-17.

Perception vs reality. One issue with tonight's game that I have seen in a lot of places is that Alabama's D is better than Texas's O and Texas's D will be worn down by Alabama.

Now I don't think Texas is going to march up and down the field on Bama and whip them 31-0. But Texas had only been held under 34 points twice and that was against two of the top 10 defense's in the country. Personally I think Texas will play a little better on offense than they did in those games. McCoy was wildly inconsistent early in the OU game and his OL got manhandled against a Nebraska line that played lights out. So I think a reasonable projection would be 20ish points against a Bama D that is right in line with those other two teams. Texas also has only allowed more than 20 points to a team twice and those teams were ranked near the top 5 in offense depending on how you break that down. Alabama is around 30ish in offense (26th if you use points but how many were defensive or special teams scores). I think Texas certainly has the ability to hold Bama under 20 as Bama has been held near or under that by defenses that are inferior to Texas.

Now I also realize that the information above is tailored to the point I am trying to make but everywhere I looked I haven't found the statistical information to back up that Texas played against junk defenses in a no defense big 12 or that Bama played against the 85 Bears every week in the SEC. As for the conferences performance in Bowls it has been hit and miss across the board so I don't know that infer much from that. The SEC is 2-0 against the Big 12 but AM lost because they can't snap the ball to the punter, get the punt off and then tackle the punt returner. Personally I think it will be a very competitive game that will be very similar to the scoring pattern of Oregon/OSU game where the underdog controls it although with a few less big plays because of the style of offense and defense that will be played.

Now I may be completely wrong but I like my chances on the Horns with the plus money.

This Texas defense is highly underappreciated by the media and it makes me sick. You will see a statement tonight!

Each play is to win the # of units posted unless it's a dog then I'm betting that amount.

seriously, somebody take out the trash please.

this **** can be found in multiple threads. why are you even worrying about what somebody's write up is when McCoy is out of the game and that is about as deflating as it gets.
