I think there is a strong case to be made that if you were on IU +17 today, you suffered one of the worst beats of all time:bang:
First of all, the reffing in this game was absolutely atrocious (the reversal of the IU TD, the 15 yard personal foul on the "helmet-to-helmet" hit, the replay call on the earlier TD, that spot on the 3rd and 1....etc etc.)
Secondly, IU is up 21-7 in the 3rd quarter and has it 1st and goal on the 5. Not only do they not score, but they turn it over and Iowa runs it back 95 yards for a TD.
Now, normally that's bad enough. This play, however, was a WHOLE OTHER KICK IN THE BALLS. The ball was batted down, only to then ricochet off no less than 3 or 4 different players only to wind up right in an Iowa player's lap. Wow.
That said, IU still has a 10 point lead going into the 4th quarter (and you're up 27 if you have the side)
Now, as an IU alum, I completely expected a 4th quarter implosion. No shocker there. However, to give up 4 TDs in one quarter is just atrocious.
And if that wasn't bad enough, the final TD was on Iowa's LAST PLAY OF THE GAME at IU's 25 (Ferentz probably would have taken a knee if they had not gotten a TD there)
Sorry for hijacking the thread but I've been drinking heavily and needed to get my thoughts out on this one
