thanks FF, good luck to you as well. btw, need your opinion on this. my local has some money lines available which caught my eye. OSU is -1800 vs. navy, which i know is stupid to bet, but im tempted none the less. is there any way osu could even remotely lose to navy? i just do not see any scenario. need your input, please.
all i can tell you is that through the years they have struggled in these early games. They should have lost to Ohio i believe it was last year or the year before. They have had close calls with really bad San Diego State teams, a really bad Cincinnati team. I am leaning hard to taking Navy + the points for sure. I mean on paper you say no way they can, but i swear with that team i never know. Plus USC is on deck so im sure that most of the kids are looking wayyyy past Navy to the revenge showdown in week 2. Navy is thin on offense coming back but they have a senior laden defense that should be at least above average. OSU has questions at WR and at RB too, though, i think in the end they will be fine. NAVY will also play assigment football better than most on defense and they will make OSU execute. I mean OSU has the much better talent, but they don't always play up to it. And Pryor did some bonehead things last year, so we'll see how he has matured.
Seriously, if NAVY beat OSU it would probably be one of the great upsets of the decade. I honestly don't see it happening so the ML is probably safe. In the end OSU is good on both lines, especially compared to what NAVY has so it may be ugly but i don't see OSU losing here. I think 24 points or whatever it is, 23, 22 1/2.....too many points, and Tressel is a classy guy and won't run the score up against NAVY. They lost Wells in the first game of the year last year, too, and he couldn't play versus USC. I could see him pulling starters if they are up a decent amount in the 2H.
Navy could not beat mediocre or even crappy ND teams due to this.
could have sworn they won in 2007......
and BTW, FYI on the season.....this navy QB is supposed to be the best passer they've had in ages. no they are not going to throw for 300 yards a game, but the kid is very serviceable from everything i have read. We'll see how he does but anything is an upgrade from the past guys.
And no, Navy won't throw much on OSU, but then again, will OSU be interested enough to play assignment football with the Navy triple option? Running the ball controls clock too. I still say OSU doesn't cover that number. The game will be won on the line where OSU is just bigger and better on both sides of the ball.
