As a Sooners fan I can only hope it's a good game. Last time they were in the BCS championship game it didn't work out too well :bang:

I kinda wish there was a playoff of some sort too. I mean I think OKLA has done everything in their power to prove they are deserving since that loss, much as FLA has done since their loss to Ole Piss....but it would still be more exciting to have some sort of playoff.

If you took TEX, OKLA, USC, FLA, ALA and PSU who are pretty clearly the best 6 teams in the country....then who to round out to an even number of 8? VT? Utah? Boise?

Or just leave it at 6 and give FLA and OKLA a bye since they're #1 and #2?

They should do something....but any way it gets done, schools are gonna be pissing and moaning that they didn't get in. At least this way it's only 1 school that feels shafted, lol

Yeah, but it's much easier to tune out a 2-loss team than it is to tune out an unbeaten Auburn for example. It would be like the NCAA basketball teams that don't get in. You'd hear about it for a day or two then it would be all eyes on the games.

I agree, and that's what i was saying about TEX not making the B10 championship game at the beginning of the week when I said OU was lucky to be there, not TEX and TTU were screwed in not getting there.

An unbeaten PSU got the shaft not that terribly long ago too, as i recall....mid to late 90's maybe?

Speaking of which, it looks like PSU is going to open at +10 in the Rose Bowl. At first glance, that might be a tad too many, as I think PSU should be at the very least competitive in that one....

Total Bias on my part but I dont care lol

TTU got screwed the most IMO.

how many times do you see a 1 loss team from a major conference get shut out of one of the BCS bowls.

I know its cuz of the no more than 2 teams from a conf rule, but sigh

oh well, I honestly am not interested in any of the BCS games other than the Rose and National Title.

it hurts when you have THE best season in your school's history even in a tough tough big 12 south and have minimal to show for it. Shows you how hard it is, and how good OU and UT are year in and year out grinding this shyt out

Yeah, 1994 season. Still the best offense I've ever seen in college football.

how can you not be interested in the Fiesta Bowl? It's probably the best matchup on paper outside of the NC game and the Rose Bowl.

I do agree and i feel for you Q. But in all honestly, the Cotton Bowl is not on New years day just like every other bowl (i mean what a fking joke...4 games on new years day) and you've pretty much got the spotlight to yourself in that one. Just not the payday. I see no difference between the cotton bowl and the fiesta bowl other than the payday.

lol I'm sorry bud I plain glossed over Fiesta Bowl, that is a good matchup I do agree.

                          my unsubstantiated thoughts on that:

                          1) I believe this will be the 3rd meeting in what 4 years between the two powerhouses, not necessarily speaking for others but maybe some casual fans will gloss over this one just based purely on repetition, seeing as how most bowl matchups are intriguing in that you see unique head-to-heads aka Penn State vs. USC. but nevertheless a good matchup.

                          2) I think in my sour-grapes-bitter-disappointment, I was just plain bitter TTU didnt get to go to Fiesta Bowl. Back before TTU played OU, I already had the week of Jan 5-9 asked off from work in case we go to the Fiesta or the National Title game. In all honesty I didnt think we'd make it to the NCG, but if we were to, of course I'd be all over that, but between the two, I would have personally rather gone to the Fiesta Bowl mainly because of its proximity to Las Vegas lol, woulda been sweet to stay in Vegas and drive 4 hours or so to the game and hang out there all day.

either way I do fear the let down "we should have been in a better bowl than this" syndrome with Tech in this bowl from a sports gambling standpoint lol

yeah i can understand that. i went out for the entire week before the NC game in '02 vs. Miami and had a blast...went again in '06 vs. Notre Dame (only for like 2 days before). But Tempe is a blast. Especially on New Year's Eve...probably one of the best in the country on Mill Avenue.

and yeah, go figure Taco Tech goes 11-1 and any other year would have been in a BCS game but Texas and Oklahoma go 11-1 too and get in ahead of them.

as for Texas vs. OSU III.......it is kind of a tired matchup but i can understand why the Fiesta Bowl did that and took OSU. OSU's largest alumni base is in Phoenix believe it or not, and the Buckeyes have traveled extremely well there the last 4 times they have played there.

not sure really....i mean who knows......50 days off and anything can happen. How excited is Texas to be there??.......i mean a lot of factors go into capping a bowl game other than this team is going to smoke this team. If both teams come to play, Texas will win out i believe because OSU's O-Line is really slow and not at all living up to the hype. Things got so bad, they started a freshman at center 1/2 way through the season. They are slow at the tackle spots and vulnerable to any kind of speed rush.

but lot of time to figure that out and as i said, i think you kind of have to gauge the mood of both teams to see which team(s) want to be there etc....
