It's my favorite week of the year because for one day, everyone is talking about my team. What's everyone's take on the game?
I'm normally pretty good calling Tech games (I'm 7-1 this year - with no posts though), but this game is crossing me up a little. A couple of thoughts on the game:
- I like Tech at home on a Thursday night after a week off. We were very banged up at UNC, and have used the week off to heal. Also, coaches say he had some good practices this week and addressed the confusion about assignments from the offensive line. At UNC, I believe we started 2 new guys due to injury (both tackles).
- QB situation for Tech is very questionable. Nesbitt is the man, but is not 100%. He wasn't 100% at UNC, and proved to be very ineffective. Jaybo Shaw, the backup is inexerienced and hit or miss (great against Miss St. - terrible against FSU).
- Our defense has been exposed a little in the past few weeks giving up some big plays. The D has also been hurt by the Offfense turning the ball over deep in our on territory. Regardless, I still like our defense against UM's inexperienced QB.
- Turnovers have played a huge roll in our games this year. We rank 118th in lost fumbles. The defense has also produces some huge turnovers and a ton of INTs (I don't have the stats). We've had a hard time punching the ball in thisyear - so getting it in good field position helps.
- UM's D is fast - so was FSU's and UNC's. We tourched FSU. We scored 7 against UNC. Go figure.
So, as you see, I'm still debating this one. The two X factors are QB play and TOs (really going out on a limb there). Which young QB will step up and limit mistakes? Which team's defense can force TOs?
