Rice Owls at the So. Miss Golden Eagles

Rice Owls at the So. Miss Golden Eagles

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After last night's lack luster affair at Memphis, where most bettors got a chance to kiss their sisters, anything would be an improvement.
Tonight,a Rice team that is actually miserable by most college football standards will be hosted by the Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi, in a game that they are predicted to lose by 3 touchdowns.
It is a downright shame that Chase Clement, the rice QB, is surrounded by such mediocrity. This young man could light up the scoreboards if he had an offensive line that could give him just a little bit of protection. But in games at Baylor, at home vs Texas Tech and at Texas the Rice QBs have been sacked an amazing 15 times. Last year Rice was an underdog in 11 of 12 games, but covered the spread in 9 of those games.
Southern Miss QBs were sacked 4 times total in two games played at East Carolina and at Tennessee. What a sad state of affairs this game is going to be. Southern Miss does have a gunner in QB Jeremy Young and a pretty decent RB in Damion Fletcher and they should prevail over the large spread. What a game!!!!

Yep, Young is definitely out for 2-4 weeks with an ankle injury. His back up is pretty terrible(had S. Miss last week against Boise when he went down). Not saying SMU can't cover this, but it makes me lean against them.
