I added the Gamecocks for tonight. While Woodson is damn impressive this year, the Wildcats schedule is not. Home wins against Eastern Kentucky, Kent st & FAU- no surprises there. Home win vs. Louisville, that's one of the most overrated teams I can remember in recent history. I'll give them the Arkansas win, but that game was much closer than the score would indicate. A silly turnover from the Razorbacks before the half resulted in a total swing of momentum. Here are the pass defense rankings of Kentucky's opponents
Kent- #13 allowing 164 yds passing per game
Arkansas #81 allowing 248 yds.
Louisville #103 allowing 275 yds.
Florida Atl#107 allowing 279 ypg.
Kent's numbers are a bit skewed as teams are content to run all over them (Kentucky ran for nearly 290 yards). Now they have to go on the road & face the #1 pass defense in college. The Gamecocks are only allowing 106 passing yards per game. They went on the road & beat Georgia, which IMO is a much higher quality win than Kentucky has. I can't fault them for losing to LSU, as IMO they are the best team in college football. Kentucky has been winning by forcing turnovers, with 14 on the season. This is one angle that scares me, as the Gamecocks have had games where they were careless (6 turnovers vs. SC st.,4 vs. LSU). Kentucky is allowing over 5 ypc on the ground, so I expect a heavy dose of Boyd/Davis to keep Woodson & co. off the field. I was contemplating buying the hook, but I just can't bring myself to lay the juice, plus I think they win by a 7 spot or more. IMO Vegas is telling you who they think wins just by the way the line is set....

Udog.....I ended up going with South Carolina at -3.5, can you explain how or why you think Vegas thinks they are going to win, I'm sure its not as easy as saying any home team thats -3.5 will cover. I think you are one of the better handicappers here and would like to pick your brain. Thanks.

I just think if they thought Kentucky was live, the hook would have disappeared at some point throughout the week. Instead what I saw was a slow climb upwards. Maybe Scar was getting hit, but around here all I heard was Wildcats/Woodson. That really has little to do with why I played them, it was more the defensive & coaching edge. IMO 2ndh the Gamecacks will be able to move the ball well. Smelley looked good on the last drive, Kentucky is having trouble getting pressure.... IMO the ground game wears the Cats D down
Thanks HD, Touchdown GL to you both.
