Beholdah......Ohio has proven themselves to be a great team at home this year where they are 7-2 SU. Plus, Buffalo has to be limping right now when they left Kent in a whimper the other night! Buffalo could have left 4-0 with a road win at a perennial MAC contender. Still, this loss is not a crippling one for Buffalo but they must start the bounce back with a win in Athens.

Buffalo, which entered the game at Kent averaging a MAC best 73.6 points per game, shot just 32.7 percent (17-52) and 18.2 percent (4-22) from three. They have lived by the three this season having already hoisted 210 of them while making 82 for 39%. They died at Kent on Wednesday night as their leading scorer Rodney Pierce scored just 4 points and was 1/8 from the floor. He had score 20 or more points in 8 straight games!

Meanwhile, Ohio lost 65-57 at Bowling Green on Wednesday and dropped to 9-9 and 0-4 in the league. Their 4 league losses have come by an average of nearly 7 pts per game, BUT they have fared much better at home losing by 2 pts to Kent and 5 points to Akron or an average of -3.5pts in their home losses. On the road the Cats are a different story losing @ Miami,OH by 12 and @ BGSU by 8 or an average of -10ppg on the road.

The Bobcats had jumped out to a 10-point lead (29-19) in the first half at BG and the game, which saw six ties and 14 lead changes. Ohio pulled ahead by three (57-54) with 3:58 left, but missed its last six field goal attempts down the stretch, while BGSU ran off the game’s last 11 points. The Bobcats’ bench outshined the Falcons’ reserves by a wide margin of 27-10 and Ohio continued to take good care of the ball, turnover the ball over just 9 times..

The 3-point line was another story, however, as the Bobcats’ made just 3-21 for 14%. Ohio was also victimized by BG's 25 free throw attempts in the second half.

Armon Bassett, the Indiana transfer is OU's leading scorer and he had just 9 at BGSU. He has scored 20+ points 4 times this season and led his team in scoring in 6 of their games. The Convo will be a welcome site for the Bobcats, a place where they have really owned the Bulls. It's basically a do or die win for OU to keep pace in the East division because they have road dates at Akron, Kent and Buffalo in the last third of the season and haven't beaten any of those teams on their home floor.......yet! Until Saturday that is......

Buffalo is 1-8 ATS in its last 9 games when playing on the road against Ohio
Buffalo is 1-11 SU in its last 12 games when playing on the road against Ohio
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Buffalo's last 6 games when playing on the road against Ohio

THE game I am waiting for on Saturday....not sure if I'm going to go or not. Nothing like being there but it's also on ESPNU at Noon:

                    THE GAME -

Off their most impressive offensive performance of the season, Kent State (11-7 / 2-2) turns its attention to arch rival Akron (13-5 / 3-1) on Saturday.

The Golden Flashes got back into the MAC East title hunt and ended a two-game losing skid with an 89-54 win over Buffalo on Wednesday. KSU had six players score in double figures and produced season highs for points (89) and field goal percentage (57.4%), which included 74.1%t (20-27) effort in the second half.

Senior guard Chris Singletary came off the bench for the second time in four MAC games to lead the way with 18 points. The only active MAC player with over 1,000 points, 350 rebounds, 250 assists and 150 steals, Singletary is averaging a team best 14.8ppg in league play and has poured in 20ppg in his two games off the bench. After starting the first 17 games of the year, red-shirt junior guard Rodriquez Sherman came off the bench as well and scored 13 points on 5-6 from the field to break out of a 2-18 shooting slump. In addition KSU had a +40 advantage in points scored in the 22 minutes he was on the court. Sherman is averaging 11ppg this season.

Senior guard Tyree Evans has a hot hand in conference play averaging 14.5ppg and shooting 41.4% (12-29) from three. He is also averaging 4.8 rpg in MAC play.

With a 3-1 league record, Akron is tied with Buffalo for first place in the MAC East Division. Chris McKnight had 18 points and 13 rebounds as the Zips posted a 69-49 win over Miami on Wednesday. Akron is averaging 70.2ppg, but has just one scorer in double figures. With 10.4ppg, Brett McKnight leads a group of seven players averaging over seven points an outing from a deep Akron bench.

Head to head in the last 10 meetings, both teams are 5-5SU and 5-5ATS! The average score in the game favors the Zips at 65 to 64.7 while Kent hold an edge in rebounding at 33 to 30.5. That shows you just how close this series has been.

A quick comparison of the two teams show Akron with a 70.2ppg - 69ppg edge in offensive output. UA also leads in defensive scoring allowing 61.3ppg while KSU allows 65.3ppg. The teams are equals in offensive rebounding at 13 per game, but the Zips hold a slight edge in defensive caroms with 24 per game while the Flashes average 23 per game. FG% also leans toward the Zips at 44.5% on the season while the Flashes shoot at 41.5%, and KSU has an advantage at the foul line hitting 67% while Akron makes 61.5%. Akron makes an average of 7 3s per game and Kent 6. Kent's defense which has been strong all season averages 8.6 steals per game and Akron averages nearly 6.

                    Quick Hits
                    • Kent State is the only team in the MAC with four players averaging in double figures this season.
                    • Ranked last in the MAC in three-point field goal percentage last week, Kent State is averaging 10.5 three-pointers made in the last two games. The outburst has accounted for 20 percent (21 of 106) of KSU’s season total this year.
                    • Rodriquez Sherman is shooting 45 percent and averaging 12.5 points in the 11 KSU wins and just 29 percent and 8.7 points in the seven losses.
                    • Kent State is 7-0 this season when Anthony Simpson scores in double figures.
                    • KSU had a season high 57 points from their bench on Wednesday and own a +9.0 ppg advantage (25.4 - 16.4) in bench points for the year.

                    The Series
                    • Kent State leads the all-time series 66-61.
                    • The 66 wins are the most for KSU against any opponent.
                    • Kent State has won five of the last six at home.
                    • Anthony Simpson averaged 12.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two games against the Zips last season.
                    • This is the eighth time in the last nine regular season meetings that either Kent State and/or Akron has been in first place in the MAC East.

It'll be another battle......How about Bunk Moreland are you coming over to the game?
