JoeP- GL!....you sure lay a lot of road chalk and take small dogs on the road. All 3 of your losses yesterday were teams either favored on the road or catching about 3 points. I just think that it's tough to think AKR is going to win every game in the league. They are running up against a hot BUF team right now and to ask them to win on the road at PK i guess seems like it's not a real good spot and there certainly isn't any value in taking them at that line IMO. But that's just my 2 cents. Hope they cover for you, though..... as win or lose that spot won't get my money often if at all....

Akron has certainly been more consistent than Buffalo who lost against Vermont, Canisius, Jacksonville and lucked out with a 3pt shot at the buzzer at Bowling Green last week. Akron is to top team in the MAC and is 6-1 SU in their last 7 games vs. the Bulls, plus they're 4-1ATS and SU @ Buffalo. You have to pick the spots where you feel the Zips could lose and those opportunities will most likely come against on one of their two consecutive roadies @ rival Kent next week or Western Michigan, or even overlooking a hot Miami team when they return home from Buffalo. They are right now, the cream of the MAC. I don't think they run the table, but do come very close.

GL today Coach! As a Drake alum, after the tourney loss in 2007 to WKU, the program has been going downhill, losing Coach Davis to Providence hurt, especially after the University President David Maxwell told a few of us "we'll do anything to keep him back!" We were encouraged, but alas, we know the final story. Not much talent on that squad! Hope they cover today though!

Stiff....I really wanna back the Flashes in this matchup! They have controlled BG in the last several years especially in Kent. After playing nine of the last 11 away from home, Kent tips-off a three-game home stand coming off a 55-53 overtime loss at Miami on Tuesday. The Golden Flashes are 5-1 at home and averaging 76.5 points per game this season.

Senior guard Tyree Evans poured in a career high 23 points in Tuesday’s loss at Miami when he awoke from a shooting slump. Since making a return to the starting line-up three games ago Evans is averaging 16.0 ppg and shooting 42 percent (10-24) from three. He enters the game needing just three three-pointers to become the 12th player in school history to reach 100 for his career.

Red-shirt Junior Rodriquez Sherman has enjoyed the friendly confines of the M.A.C. Center this season averaging 15.2 ppg and shooting over 48 percent from the field in six games. Despite scoring just five points, Sherman equaled a team high with seven rebounds against Miami.

Kent really struggled on offense and defense in the second half at Miami and couldn't close out the win even though they had a chance to win at the end of regulation.....they blew a layup just before the buzzer......and then blew two chances in the last 11 seconds of overtime to win.

At Miami, Kent really struggled with scoring and tried to rely on Singletary while going away from Justin Green and Evans when the game was on the line. Unlike the OU game when Kent also had a big lead they couldn't close the deal at Miami. In the last 3 games I've seen them, Kent had built big leads, 19 against A&M CC, 13 @ Ohio, and 12 @ Miami, and then let their opponents come all the way back. However, this team is good at home and they ought to have the students who return from semester break along with the homecourt both on their side. It's $5 admission and $1 coke and hot dog day so the place should be packed.

Bowling Green has lost two straight and four off the last six following a last second 68-65 loss at home to Buffalo on Thursday on a last second 3 pointer. Despite averaging just 60.2 ppg, the Falcons have three players averaging in double figures led by 6-3 guard Dee Brown with 10.2 ppg. Kent's best defenders are their guards and they should be able to take care of the middle with Singletary, Simpson and Greene. BGSU's away scoring average is 56ppg and in 2 of their last 3 road games, both losses, they shot in the 28% range.

                  Some Quick Trends
                  • After allowing opponents to shoot 47.2 percent in the first nine games, the KSU defense has held the opposition to just 39.9 percent shooting in the last seven games.
                  • In two MAC games this season opponents are shooting just 36.4 percent and averaging 57.5 ppg against the Golden Flashes.
                  • Chris Singletary needs just eight points to become the 26th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points.
                  • Kent State has won six straight and 27 of the last 29 against MAC opponents at home.

                  The Series
                  • The teams have split the two meetings the last two years.
                  • Kent State has won three straight and has a 38-30 record at home in the series.
                  • Kent State has won 18 of the last 24 meetings.
                  • Chris Singletary has averaged 15.0 ppg and shot 59 percent (22-37) in the last four meetings against Bowling Green.
                  • Anthony Simpson averaged 10.0 ppg in the two meetings last season.

I am on DRAKE as i can grab 6 -120. The game is on ESPNU and DRAKE has been playing much better of late. ILLST is about as up and down as any team in the country. Lets hope DRAKE shows tonight....

and i hear you on AKR being good and the class of the MAC, but lets also be real....other than the real absolute ****balls in the MAC, mainly Toledo, the talent is roughly the same at most of these schools and it isn't like any of them have michael jordan on the team to make the difference. I know AKR is a very good team but all these MAC schools pull from the same talent pool for the most part and as far as I'm concerned are all pretty much the same just in different uniforms. And the results usually prove that out. You knew BUF was going to be up for that game today like no other. Didn't see it or follow it so not sure how BUF ended up winning by 15 or whatever, but a team like AKR is going to get whoever's best game when they play them. Winning is not easy on the road in any conference no matter who you are.

lets hit the Fighting Des Moiners.....:beerbang:

Akron.....checked out the play by play, they were tied at 27-27 with 4:30 minutes left in the first half and Buffalo went on a 15-0 run to close the half and take a 42-27 lead and the Zippers never recovered.

                          :puke::puke::puke:
Kent.....BG took an 11-0 lead to start the game but Kent recovered to take a 35-28 lead at the half. They should have quit then! Kent led 38-30 early in the second half and didn't score another basket for 5 mins. when they got a 3 and 3 FTs, then went on a 4 min. scoreless streak until they got another 3, and then didn't score for 4 mins, and then didn't score for a basket until 8 seconds left in the game ending nearly a 2 minute dry spell.....That's 15 minutes of not scoring in the second half and they deserve to lose, a good team would have blow them out but they were playing BG!

Thank goodness I was away from the radio/tv coverage all day. I was in North Canton at a weekend high school basketball tournament. Just an FYI, Dover is 11-0 and downed Youngstown Ursuline.
