          Thanks guys.......

Beholdah......Man has OU owned Kent at the Convo in Athens. Check out some of these numbers from the series:

For the second straight season Kent State (9-5; 0-0) travels to Ohio (9-5; 0-0) start Mid-American Conference play and the Golden Flashes are not strangers to the road, as the game marks the eighth time in the last 10 games KSU is playing away from home.

Kent State enters MAC play having won four of the last five following Monday’s 84-66 win over Norfolk State. Ohio is 7-1 at home this season in a place well familiar with KSU head coach Geno Ford. A 1,700-point scorer, Ford was an All-MAC selection and a member of the Bobcats 1994 MAC Championship team under Larry Hunter. He then spent three years on the sideline as an assistant coach at Ohio.

          • Kent State is 10-2 in MAC openers since the 1997-98 season, but just 25-33 all-time.
          • Kent State has won seven of the last nine meetings, but both Ohio wins have come at home for the Bobcats.
          • Ohio leads the all-time series 86-40 which dates back to the 1930-31 season.
          • This is the second straight season KSU is opening MAC play at Ohio.
          • Ohio is 49-8 all-time at home in the series.

Kent State is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
Kent State is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games when playing Ohio
Kent State is 7-2 SU in its last 9 games when playing Ohio
Kent State is 2-7 ATS in its last 9 games when playing on the road against Ohio
Kent State is 2-6 SU in its last 8 games when playing on the road against Ohio

          More to follow!

            More notes about the teams:

Kent enters MAC play having won four of the last five following Monday’s 84-66 win over Norfolk State. Red-shirt Junior Rodriquez Sherman led five players in double figures with 16 points for his 10th double-digit scoring effort of the year. Sherman, who missed all of 2008-09 with a knee injury, had just 12 double-digit games in his first two years combined. He will be playing in his first game against MAC competition since helping lead KSU to the 2008 regular season and tournament championships.

Ranked fifth in the league with 14.1 ppg, sophomore forward Justin Greene has been in a groove the last five games averaging nearly 17 points and over seven rebounds a contest. The reigning MAC East Player of the Week, Greene notched his second double-double in the last three games with 14 points and a career best 11 rebounds in the Norfolk State game.

Ohio is coming off a last second 63-62 win at IUPUI on Wednesday. The Bobcats have four double-digit scorers and lead the MAC with 74.4 ppg this season. Freshman guard D.J. Cooper headlines the group with 12.4 ppg while Armon Bassett, a transfer from Indiana is scored 12.2 ppg.

            • After allowing opponents to shoot 47.2 percent in the first nine games, the KSU defense has held the opposition to just 41.4 percent shooting in the last five games.

            • Kent State is 10-2 in MAC openers since the 1997-98 season.

            • The Golden Flashes have scored more points off turnovers in five straight games and own a +9.2 ppg (20.2 - 11.0) advantage during the stretch. KSU has had more points off turnovers in 11 of the 14 games this season.

            • In the last two years since Geno Ford has been the head coach at KSU, The Golden Flashes lead the MAC having committed just 12.6 turnovers per game.

            • Chris Singletary is the MAC’s active leader with 161 career steals and needs just three to tie Andrew Mitchell (1998-02) for fifth all-time at KSU with 164.

            • Kent State has won seven of the last nine meetings, but both Ohio wins have come at home for the Bobcats.

            • This is the second straight season KSU is opening MAC play at Ohio.

            • Ohio is 49-8 all-time at home in the series.

            • Tyree Evans averaged 15.0 ppg and hit eight three-pointers in two games against Ohio last season.

            • Chris Singletary is averaging 10.5 ppg in his last four games against Ohio.

            • Head Coach Geno Ford’s younger brother, Dustin is in his second season on the Bobcat’s coaching staff.

            * Kent State’s eight blocks against Norfolk State on Jan. 4 tied a school record for blocks in a game.

            * Justin Greene was the main culprit for the rejections tying a career high with three in the game.

            * Freshman guard Randal Holt had a slow start to his KSU career averaging just 2.7 points in the first two months and missing three games with a torn meniscus on his left knee. The new calender year quickly brought life to Holt’s game. In the first game of 2010, he scored a career high 12 points (4-4 FGs) and had two assists in KSU’s win over Norfolk State on Jan. 4.

            Common opponents -

Kent lost at Pitt 71-59 and won at Robert Morris 71-57 while Ohio lost at Pitt 74-49 and lost at Robert Morris 81-79.

Still I fee that OU has one of the best young teams in the MAC and can be very dangerous. Impact freshmen DJ Cooper is averaging12ppg, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals, while fellow classmate Jay Kinney averages 11ppg.

Comparing MAC teams OU is 1st in scoring @74ppg and Kent ranks 5th at 69ppg; Scoring defense Kent is 6th at 66ppg and OU is 8th at 67ppg; FT % OU is 1st at 73% and Kent is 8th at 41%; FG % OU is 11th at 40% and Kent is 8th at 41%; OU is also a better rebounding team on both ends of the floor with 14 offensively and 25 defensively while Kent averages 13 and 22. Both teams are great defenders with OU 2nd in steals per game at 8.9 and Kent ranked 3rd at 8.5; and in TO margin the teams rank #1/#2 with Kent at +5 and OU at +3.7.

No doubt about it Kent plays great defense but is that enough to win at the Convo? I think Kent is better in the post that OU but their lack of true guards may hurt them even though he return of Holt is definitely a plus and gives them a bonafide scorer and ball handler. And, Kent's Tyree Evans and Mike McKee, their deep threats from behind the arc have both been in shooting slumps since the Pitt game and they've had to rely on the slashing of Rod Sherman and the inside presences of Singletary and Greene.

I'm laying off and just watching what should be a really close game deep into the second half!

Each play is to win the # of units posted unless it's a dog then I'm betting that amount.

UP 10 at the break and get outscored by 20 in the second half......if you saw it, I was lucky to get the push. They were plain dogs in the last half even when they got it back to 5 pts....:puke:

Some seriously ugly basketball last night and I happened to watch them....Fairfield/Loyola SUCK, the Stags cannot put a game away to save their lives which was good because I had Loyola (even in 2nd half when the Hounds leading scorer sat on the pin with a shoulder injury he go right before half. And then there's UDM/Valpo.....no need to say anything about that game except that Valpo was up 10 at the break and got outscored by 20 in the 2nd half....
