    Rashid Khalidi
JERUSALEM – The Los Angeles Times has been accused of deliberately suppressing a video it says it obtained of Sen. Barack Obama attending an anti-Israel event in which he delivered a glowing testimonial for an anti-Israel professor who excuses terrorism.

Andrew C. McCarthy, chairman of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies' Center for Law & Counterterrorism, claimed in a piece today in National Review Online the Times would have jumped at the chance of making such images public if Sen. John McCain had been involved.

"Let's try a thought experiment," begins McCarthy. "Say John McCain attended a party at which known racists and terror mongers were in attendance. Say testimonials were given, including a glowing one by McCain for the benefit of the guest of honor ... who happened to be a top apologist for terrorists. Say McCain not only gave a speech but stood by, in tacit approval and solidarity, while other racists and terror mongers gave speeches that reeked of hatred for an American ally and rationalizations of terror attacks.

"Now let's say the Los Angeles Times obtained a videotape of the party.

"Question: Is there any chance – any chance – the Times would not release the tape and publish front-page story after story about the gory details, with the usual accompanying chorus of sanctimony from the oped commentariat? Is there any chance, if the Times was the least bit reluctant about publishing (remember, we're pretending here), that the rest of the mainstream media (y'know, the guys who drove Trent Lott out of his leadership position over a birthday-party toast) would not be screaming for the release of the tape?" McCarthy asked.

McCarthy was referring to videotape the Times said it obtained of Obama delivering in-person testimonial in 2003 at the farewell party of anti-Israel professor Rashid Khalidi, who at the time was departing the University of Chicago for a new teaching position at Columbia University.

In a piece last April, L.A. Times writer Peter Wallsten reported that while praising Khalidi, Obama reminisced about conversations over meals prepared by the professor's wife Mona Khalidi.

Unreported by Wallsten was that the event was sponsored by Mona Khalidi's anti-Israel Arab American Action Network, which, as WND first reported, received large sums of money from the Woods Fund, an ultra-liberal Chicago nonprofit for which Obama served as a board member alongside Weather Underground radical William Ayers.

According to a Times account of the farewell dinner, Obama said his talks with the Khalidis served as "consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases. … It's for that reason that I'm hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation – a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid's dinner table," but around "this entire world."

Khalidi's farewell dinner was replete with anti-Israel speakers.

One, a young Palestinian American, recited a poem in Obama's presence that accused the Israeli government of terrorism in its treatment of Palestinians and sharply criticized U.S. support of Israel, the Times reported.

Another speaker, who reportedly talked while Obama was present, compared "Zionist settlers on the West Bank" to Osama bin Laden.

In the kicker, Wallsten wrote, "The event was videotaped, and a copy of the tape was obtained by The Times."

But that detail went largely unnoticed until this past weekend, when the Gateway Pundit blog made an issue of the tape.

Wallsten did not immediately return a WND e-mail and phone call seeking comment.

Khalidi is a harsh critic of Israel. He has made statements supportive of Palestinian terror and reportedly has worked on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was involved in anti-Western terrorism and was labeled by the State Department as a terror group.

During documented speeches and public events, Khalidi has called Israel an "apartheid system in creation" and a destructive "racist" state. He has multiple times expressed support for Palestinian terror, calling suicide bombings a response to "Israeli aggression."

He dedicated his 1986 book, "Under Siege," to "those who gave their lives ... in defense of the cause of Palestine and independence of Lebanon." Critics assailed the book as excusing Palestinian terrorism.

    Obama, Khalidi closely tied

According to a professor at the University of Chicago who said he has known Obama for 12 years, the Democratic presidential hopeful first befriended Khalidi when the two worked together at the university. The professor spoke on condition of anonymity. Khalidi lectured at the University of Chicago until 2003, while Obama taught law there from 1993 until his election to the Senate in 2004.

Khalidi in 2000 held what was described as a successful fundraiser for Obama's failed bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, a fact not denied by Khalidi.

Speaking in a joint interview with WND and the John Batchelor radio show, Khalidi was asked about his 2000 fundraiser for Obama.

"I was just doing my duties as a Chicago resident to help my local politician," Khalidi stated.

Khalidi said he supports Obama for president "because he is the only candidate who has expressed sympathy for the Palestinian cause."

Khalidi also lauded Obama for "saying he supports talks with Iran. If the U.S. can talk with the Soviet Union during the Cold War, there is no reason it can't talk with the Iranians."

In 2001, the Woods Fund, which describes itself as a group helping the disadvantaged, provided a $40,000 grant to Mona Khalidi's Arab American Action Network, or AAAN. The fund provided a second grant to the AAAN for $35,000 in 2002.

Speakers at AAAN dinners and events routinely have taken an anti-Israel line. The group co-sponsored a Palestinian art exhibit, titled, "The Subject of Palestine," that featured works related to what some Palestinians call the "Nakba" or "catastrophe" of Israel's founding in 1948.

    Obama hijacked phrase from Khalidi?

In May, WND noted Obama termed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict a "constant sore" in an interview just five days after Khalidi wrote an opinion piece in the Nation magazine in which he called the "Palestinian question" a "running sore."

In his piece, "Palestine: Liberation Deferred," Khalidi suggests Israel carried out "ethnic cleansing" of Palestinians; writes Western powers backed Israel's establishment due to guilt of the Holocaust; laments the Palestinian Authority's stated acceptance of a Palestinian state "only" in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and eastern sections of Jerusalem; and argues Israel should be dissolved and instead a bi-national, cantonal system should be set up in which Jews and Arabs reside.

Obama donor ordered Big Brother probe of Joe the Plumber
State agency director authorizes child-support check on senator's critic

Following the third presidential debate, a state agency director and maximum donor to the Barack Obama presidential campaign immediately authorized a government background check of Joe the Plumber's child-support records.

Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and a $2,500 contributor to the Obama campaign, permitted state employees to conduct a check on Samuel Joseph Worzelbacher, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

Now Ohio Inspector General Thomas P. Charles is seeking to determine whether at least four probes on state computers were legal.

Jones-Kelley denies the Support Enforcement Tracking System search was politically motivated and claims the check was ordered to verify that Worzelbacher was not behind on child-support payments.

While the state agency director would not share information about Joe the Plumber's record with the Dispatch, Worzelbacher reportedly lives with his 13-year-old boy, and it is uncertain whether he has ever been ordered to pay child support.

Jones-Kelley said such background checks are not unusual.

"Our practice is when someone is thrust quickly into the public spotlight, we often take a look," she said. "Our practice is to basically look at what is coming our way."

Ohio's Democrat Gov. Ted Strickland told the Dispatch his appointee, Jones-Kelly, did not authorize the check for political purposes.

"Based on what we know to this point, we don't have any reason to believe the information was improperly accessed or disclosed by a state employee," his press secretary told the paper.

Name searches on Joe the Plumber were also conducted at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, where his registration and driving records were pulled. The State Highway Patrol has seized a government computer at the Ohio Department of Insurance as evidence. A separate search was conducted in the Toledo Police Department's criminal database.

Chuck Norris: Thugs can look down the barrel of my gun

Encourages voters to support 2nd Amendment rights on Nov. 4

Chuck Norris advocating for the Second Amendment beside house sign that reads, 'We don't dial 911'

World martial arts champion, longtime television and movie star and WND columnist Chuck Norris is working with the National Rifle Association's Political Victory Fund to ask voters to remember that their Second Amendment gun rights are important on Election Day.

Norris has created an ad which has been posted on the NRAPVF website explaining the importance of the issue.

"I'm Chuck Norris, a black belt patriot," the ad says. "If some thug breaks into my home I can use my roundhouse kick, but I prefer he look down the barrel of my gun."

"And millions of other law-abiding families also rely on their Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms," he continues. "Some politicians say they support your rights but unfortunately their voting records say otherwise. Protect your rights on Election Day."

Norris, who also recently released a new book called "Black Belt Patriotism: How to Reawaken America," advises in the video for voters to "check the candidates' records and see who stood up for your families and who protected the criminals."

He's standing next to a sign on the side of his home while he's speaking, a sign which states, "We don't dial 911."

While Norris doesn't advocate for a particular candidate in the video, the NRA website has an option to submit a zip code and get a listing of candidates for that district who advocate for the Second Amendment.

The NRA's Political Victory Fund has endorsed the GOP ticket of Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin on its site.

In a message from NRA president Wayne LaPierre, he said, "In just a few days, on November 4, gun owners will be presented with a very clear choice of a pro-Second Amendment versus an anti-Second Amendment presidential ticket. John McCain and Sarah Palin versus Barack Obama and Joe Biden represents a stark contrast for the future of our freedom.

"In that choice, one fact is foremost:

"The next president, by filling inevitable vacancies on the U.S. Supreme Court, will determine the continued existence of our Right To Keep and Bear Arms," he said.

"The landmark Heller decision by the U.S. Supreme Court – which struck down the D.C. gun ban and its attendant criminalizing of armed self-defense in the home – was decided by a one vote margin, in a 5-4 decision. The court's decision was aided by briefs filed by Congress and states – briefs signed by John McCain and by Palin's state of Alaska," LaPierre continued.

"Barack Obama and Joe Biden refused to sign in support of the Second Amendment. But for President George W. Bush's two high court nominations, it could easily have gone the other way. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Associate Justice Samuel Alito truly made the difference. Keep in mind that Barack Obama and the man who is now his running mate, U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden, voted against confirming both."

The political victory fund also warned Biden "was radically opposed and used every trick in the book including the threat of a filibuster to kill the confirmation process (for Bush's Supreme Court nominees)."

During his own failed presidential bid, Biden said, "The next president is likely to name at least one, if not three new Supreme Court justices. We should start this national debate by recognizing the truth – that Roberts and Alito have turned the court upside down … . I guarantee you that will change," according to the NRA.

Officials said the ad will be used nationally on cable networks but also in 10 battleground states including Colorado, Nevada, Missouri, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The NRA website also includes other videos, including one referencing Obama's condemnation of Americans with traditional values as those people who "cling" to their "religion and guns."

Norris' book gives a no-holds-barred assessment of American culture, tackling everything from family values to national security. More than a cultural critique of what's wrong with our nation, "Black Belt Patriotism" provides real solutions for solving our problems, moving our country forward, and changing our nation's course for the better.

          Obama's tax-cut threshold shrinking?
Confusion abounds as voters hear $250,000, $200,000, now $150,000

A new video advertisement released by the Obama campaign says the candidate's promised tax cuts are for citizens making less than $200,000 a year, not the widely reported figure of $250,000.

Adding to the confusion, Obama's running mate, Joe Biden, said in an interview yesterday the cuts are for even fewer people, limited to incomes of $150,000 or less.

Depending on the source of information, just who will have their taxes raised and who will have them cut under Obama's plan varies.

The campaign's homepage, for example, accessed today, reads, "Obama said he wanted to give a tax break to all families making under $250,000 per year, which he said was 95 percent of American workers."

Yet in the "Defining Moment" ad released on YouTube last week and viewable below, Obama says the tax cut "for 95 percent of working Americans" is only for those who make less than $200,000 per year.

According to the 2006 IRS statistics published by the National Taxpayers Union, "95 percent of working Americans" only includes those making less than $153,542 per year.

And now, Fox News reports Biden told a Scranton, Pa., TV station yesterday that Obama's tax break "should go to middle class people – people making under $150,000 a year."

At a rally in Pennsylvania, CBS News reports, McCain took the opportunity to blast Obama as a candidate with more and more taxes on his mind.

"Sen. Obama has made a lot of promises," McCain said. "First he said people making less than $250,000 would benefit from his plan, then this weekend he announced in an ad that if you're a family making less than $200,000 you'll benefit – but yesterday, right here in Pennsylvania, Sen. Biden said tax relief should only go to 'middle class people – people making under 150,000 dollars a year.' You getting an idea of what's on their mind?"

"I'll launch a rescue plan for the middle class that begins with a tax cut for 95 percent of working Americans," Obama says in the "Defining Moment" advertisement. "If you have a job, pay taxes and make less than $200,000 a year, you'll get a tax cut."

The full "Defining Moment" advertisement can be seen below:

          <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vJvkRFKGgGw&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vJvkRFKGgGw&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The disparity in the numbers has Republican campaigners riled.

The Obama campaign media site, The Record, quotes Tucker Bounds, spokesman for McCain-Palin saying, "By adjusting his tax increases to include anyone making more than $200,000, Barack Obama has reversed himself and issued a shifty new call for at least 1 million more hardworking Americans to be added to his plans for higher taxes."

The Record immediately rebutted Bounds, insisting Obama's plan has always included a tax hike on Americans making more than $250,000, but the tax cut is only for those making less than $200,000.

The site then quotes Obama at the Oct. 7 presidential debate: "If you make less than a quarter of a million dollars a year, you will not see a single dime of your taxes go up. If you make $200,000 a year or less, your taxes will go down."

Biden's comments yesterday, however, have heated up criticism again.

"You getting an idea of what's on their mind, huh? A little sneak peak," McCain said, according to Fox News. "It's interesting how their definition of rich has a way of creeping down. At this rate, it won't be long before Senator Obama is right back to his vote that Americans making just $42,000 a year should get a tax increase."

Obama campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor did not directly address Biden's comments, but he released a statement about McCain's criticism.

"The McCain campaign's attacks are getting more desperate by the hour," Vietor said. "Obama and Biden have always said, under their plan no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase one cent. And if your family makes less than $200,000 – as 95 percent of workers and their families do – you'll get a tax cut."

          Changing you can believe in!

Experts affirm: Ayers wrote Obama's memoir
Scientific analyses independently find radical's mark on 'Dreams From My Father'

Independent scientific analysis by a number of leading experts supports the literary detective work of WND columnist Jack Cashill that has led him to conclude unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers was the primary author of important sections of Barack Obama's highly acclaimed memoir and editor of the book as a whole.

Obama's 1995 book, "Dreams From My Father," won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album and drew praise from Time magazine, which called it "the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician."

But since July, Cashill has unveiled in a dozen columns, summarized here, his compelling evidence that the co-founder of the radical Weather Underground group – dismissed by Obama as "just a guy who lives in my neighborhood" – shaped and refined the book with his exceptional writing skill and radical ideas.

The evidence, Cashill says, "severely tests Obama's claim of a superficial relationship with the self-declared 'communist' Ayers. This appears to be a conscious and consequential deception."

Cashill points out that in contrast to "Dreams," the Obama writing samples unearthed before 1995 "are pedestrian and uninspired."

"There is no precedent for this kind of literary transformation," he writes. "It is as if a high 90s golfer suddenly showed up with his PGA card -- with no known practice rounds in between."

In a new column today, Cashill reports four different stylometric analysts now have confirmed his extensive forensic evidence, and he awaits the results from a fifth.

Cashill's expert team includes university professors from the U.S. and England in the statistical analysis of authorship, systems engineers, writers and Ph.D. literary analysts. Most, particularly professors at public universities, asked that their names not be revealed.

Cashill cautions that the data-driven computer analysis is not foolproof, but all of the four independent tests that have been completed point to the same conclusion, that Ayers was heavily involved in the writing of "Dreams."

One analyst, who used his own proprietary software, wrote to Cashill that there is a "strong likelihood" that the author of "Fugitive Days," Ayers' own memoir, ghost-wrote "Dreams From My Father" using recordings of dialog.

The analyst said it's also possible Ayers served as a "book doctor," drastically rewriting work Obama already had done.

A systems engineer told Cashill, "The statistical style analysis performed by our research team suggests that the writing style of "Dreams From My Father" is significantly more similar to the style observed in "Fugitive Days" than to the style found in other works by Barack Obama such as "Audacity of Hope."

Another analyst writes, "We strongly think this bears immediate investigation by the academic community at large as the initial data presented is highly suggestive that these two documents share large portions of authorship."

Did Saddam bagman help Obama buy mansion?
Former Iraqi official bankrolled Democrat's financier Rezko

Obama and top fundraiser Tony Rezko,
a business partner and close friend of Auchi

Just 23 days before a crooked fundraiser helped Sen. Barack Obama buy his Chicago mansion, a billionaire bagman for Saddam Hussein wired millions into the crook's account.

"Barack Obama appears to have personally benefited from funds originating in Saddam Hussein's regime," said Mideast expert Daniel Pipes.

Former Iraqi official Nadhmi Auchi bankrolled his longtime friend and business partner, Syrian immigrant and Chicago slumlord Tony Rezko, who in turn bankrolled Obama's political career before being convicted this year of fraud.

That much is known. What's not known is whether any Auchi funds aided Obama's 2005 purchase of a $1.65 million mock-Georgian mansion in the leafy Kenwood district of Chicago. On the same day, Rezko purchased an adjacent lot from the same seller.

In addition, Rezko personally toured the house with Obama before their same-day purchase of the adjoining parcels. He also advised Obama on negotiating his end of the deal.

Obama ended up buying his side of the property for $300,000 below the asking price, while Rezko, through his wife, paid full price, $625,000, for the adjacent vacant lot.

Just three weeks earlier, Rezko – who at the time was under indictment and virtually bankrupt – received a $3.5 million wire transfer from Auchi, his "close friend" and partner, who smuggled weapons to Saddam's regime.

A year before their real estate deal, Obama, fresh off his U.S. Senate win, attended a dinner that Rezko hosted honoring Auchi at the Four Seasons hotel in downtown Chicago. There, he met with Rezko, as well as his career mentor, Emil Jones, president of the Illinois senate, where Obama had previously served. Jones also is close to Auchi.

While Obama acknowledges attending the 2004 event, he claims having no memory of meeting Auchi there.

"I just don't recall," he said, even though the dinner was held in Auchi's honor and Rezko had invited Obama to meet him and other friends.

What's more, Rezko that same year had held another reception for Auchi, this time at his mansion; and according to court testimony in Rezko's trial, both Barack and Michelle Obama attended the reception and met Auchi.

Auchi at the time was under investigation by the U.S. government. The Pentagon had accused him of perpetrating fraud in Iraq, and he was subsequently barred from future entry into the U.S.

Auchi turned to Rezko to lobby several politicians in an unsuccessful bid to reinstate his visa.

It's not clear if Obama, a vocal Iraq war critic, was one of those politicians. But the senator did intervene on behalf of another shady Iraqi official at Rezko's request.

After Aiham Alsammarae was jailed in Iraq for fraud in 2006, Obama's Senate office sought information from the State Department about his status and relayed it to his family living in Chicago.

Alsammarae, a dual Iraqi-U.S. citizen who donated the maximum $2,300 to Obama's campaign, attended the same Four Seasons reception for Auchi attended by Obama.

A 2004 Pentagon report identified Auchi as an Iraqi billionaire and global arms dealer "who behind the facade of legitimate business, served as Saddam Hussein's principle international financial manipulator and bag man."

The report states that "significant and credible evidence has been developed that Nadhmi Auchi has engaged in unlawful activities," such as bribing "foreign governments and individuals prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom to turn opinion against the American-led mission to remove Saddam Hussein."

He also helped "arrange for significant theft from the U.N. Oil-for-Food Program to smuggle weapons and dual-use technology into Iraq."

Since October 2002, Obama has publicly opposed Operation Iraqi Freedom, which ousted Saddam Hussein. Auchi was a cousin of the executed dictator.

As for Rezko, the Obama campaign says the presidential hopeful was unaware of his dirty dealings and has returned more than $200,000 in donations tied to him.

Obama has confessed misjudgment only in the subsequent purchase of a 10-foot strip of the adjacent S. Greenwood Avenue property from Rezko, not the original seemingly coordinated purchase of the parcels with Rezko on the same day, which political watchdog groups have called a "sweetheart deal."

Plot of land Rezko bought on same day Obama bought
$1.65 million Georgian mansion next door

Obama described his subsequent $105,000 transaction a "boneheaded move," only because Rezko was under indictment at the time for bribing elected officials and other influence-peddling charges. He denies they coordinated their bids on the adjoining parcels so the Obamas could buy their dream home at a discount.

And his campaign has reiterated that Obama has no recollection of meeting Iraqi bagman Auchi, while adding that Auchi does not recall meeting Obama.

"There are no skeletons with this guy," Obama foreign policy adviser Samantha Power has insisted regarding her candidate. "He's clean."

Coincidentally, Obama's national campaign co-chairman, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. of Chicago, also purchased a mansion under similarly mysterious circumstances.

Obama’s campaign manager offers 3 million dollars to API in connection with Michelle Obama tape to be aired by Fox News Network

                  africanpress on October 29, 2008

Six hours after the release of information by API on the planned broadcast by Fox News Network of the Michelle Obama tape, in accordance with an agreement that has been reached between API and Fox News Network, API was contacted by Obama’s Campaign Manager.

Those who are close to the democratic presidential candidate must be desperate to win the elections no matter what, otherwise they would not have taken such bold step to contact API with an offer of a bribe in order to stop the airing of the tape.

Obama’s campaign manager contacted API by telephone and email offering 3 million US dollars followed with a request to API to cancel the deal with Fox News Network.

Ten days ago API received the first request to accept 2 million US dollars by Mr Ed Hale, President of Plains Radio, Texas - USA, in an effort to suppress the information from reaching the public before the coming US Presidential elections.

API has now taken a decision to contact the American Embassy in Oslo, Norway as soon as possible in order to report the matter and hand over the evidence for investigative purposes.

API’s Canadian lawyer is expected to fly to Oslo shortly in order to assist in the legal matters that arise from the bribery attempt.

API’s Chief editor is expected to travel to New York, together with the Canadian lawyer, where he will appear live in one of the shows that will air the Michelle Obama tape.

The intended release of Michelle Obama tapes stirs trouble in many circles « African Press International (API)

The Obama camp is not saying anything publicly now, but have chosen to work behind the scenes in their efforts to influence the release of Michelle Obama tape. The impact the tape is expected to have on National Security when finally released will be huge.

Peaceful approach to have the tapes not to be released has now turned into direct threats directed against API. The threats being unleashed against API comes after API Chief Editor’s unwillingness to accept the offer of a bribe by Obama Camp’s Campaign Manager was turned down.

The next few hours will be very crucial for API. The news organization is now putting the facts surrounding the bribe attempt together and will take a decision today to request the police to file charges against the Campaign Manager.

API on the other hand does not want to surrender to the pressure being mounted, even though faced with danger for ignoring the warnings not to allow the release of the tape. API is being bombarded with death threats from people who say have been hired to silence API and those involved in the plan to have the tapes released.

The US embassy in Norway together with the Norwegian Security Service has been duly informed of the situation and has promised to give the matter the priority it deserves.

Due to the situation that has arisen, and security considerations, API reprentative’s trip to New York today to participate in a planned live interview will be temporarily delayed for some hours while the Embassy looks into the matter.

Now that the situation has become so dangerous because some people are afraid to let the American people know the truth about Michelle Obama’s stand exhibited by her in the tape, API will thread carefully and will classify details on what is going on, especially details on when the API representative will fly to New York, which flight and where he will be housed while in the US. This will be done to avoid exposing him to any danger while on US soil

API will not rest until the tape is aired so that the American people may judge for themselves whether the contents of the tape is of relevance to the elections taking place November the 4th.

Obama’s grandmother banned by The Kenya Police from giving interviews that may jeopardise Obama’s Presidential victory on November 4th.

Censuring Obama’s grandmother: She is being censured by the police so that she does not say anything - a slip of a tongue may occur - that may reveal the identity and birth place of her grandson. If she were to say something in the line of - another citizenship, or that he was born in Kenya or Hawaii and adopted by a foreigner, and Obama is elected, that may create a constitutional crisis in the US because that will open for lawsuits to ensure Obama is not sworn in as President.

This is a big surprise for the old woman who loves to talk to the local and international media about her grandson who may take over as the first black ruler in America. The Kenya police must have been instructed by the highest offices in the land to stop her from giving interviews between now and the election day.

The report says she will be allowed to speak to the media on the 5th of November - a presumption that she will be telling the media of the grandson’s victory in America. It is understood that she has assembled a delegation of 30 people and tickets already paid for in order to travel to the US on the 6th of November to attend what they say will be Obama’s victory celebration. This is like counting chicken before the eggs hatch.

Kenya: Obama’s family halts media interviews

Nairobi (Kenya) - The Kenya family of US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has halted all media engagements until after the US presidential election on November 4.

The move has been taken to give Obama’s paternal grandmother, Mama Sarah Onyango Obama a break, according to a family member Mr Said Obama. In the recent past, a battery of local and international journalists have been visiting the home on a daily basis to seek interviews from the 85-year old granny.

But Mr Said Obama said the family would open up to the media on November 5, a day after the elections.

And on Wednesday, Siaya District police chief Mr Johnston Ipara said security officers would restrict entry to the home to ensure the family privacy is guaranteed

“People who visit the family’s home in K’Ogelo will be restrained from conducting interviews to the family members,” he said

Mr Ipara added the move was taken to ensure that people, especially the media, do not pre-empt the outcome of the US elections by using comments from the family members.

“We do not want Mama Sarah Obama to be disturbed at the moment she needs time to monitor the elections as they unfold,” said Ipara.

He said all visitors to the home would be thoroughly screened by the police before being allowed in.

Meanwhile, Obamamania continued to grip Kisumu town and its environs as hawkers cashed in on the craze to sell branded T-shirts, caps and badges.

Dancehalls have also recorded a high number of songs recorded in vernacular languages in praise of the US presidential candidate whose father was Kenyan.

                            ————–

                              Obama dummy found hanging
Effigy of Democrat called 'disgusting,' but Palin's hailed as fun Halloween art

It's not just Sarah Palin hanging around for Halloween.

Police are investigating the discovery of an effigy of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama dangling from a tree this morning at the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington.

"I am personally offended and deeply embarrassed by this disgusting episode," said Lee Todd, president of the university in a campus-wide e-mail. "This is not reasonable political expression; it is just malicious. And it is unacceptable."

Todd plans to apologize to the Obama family on behalf of the school, which immediately removed the life-sized dummy said to be outfitted with an Obama Halloween mask, a suit jacket and sweat pants.

"I feel outraged and hurt. I am outraged because we work very hard, every day, to build bridges across the divides," said Todd. "Diversity and inclusion are among our most precious core values. Episodes like this serve only to erode our confidence in and respect for one another."

He said those found responsible will be "subject to the full force of university, state, and federal rules and regulations."

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear called the incident "embarrassing" and "deeply offensive."

"This was not political speech. It was simply hate," he said, according to the Associated Press.

The effigy of Obama comes on the heels of a high-profile hanging depiction of Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin in West Hollywood, Calif.

While some local residents are outraged, others, including display creator Chad Michael Morrissette, are defending it, calling it Halloween-related fun.

"It should be seen as art, and it should be seen as, within the month of October, it is Halloween. It is time to be scary. It is time to be spooky," he told the CBS-TV affiliate in Los Angeles.

Local authorities have said the Palin effigy is not a hate crime.

"I'm not defending this; I'm not criticizing it. It doesn't rise to the level of hate crime," Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, told the Los Angeles Times. "Now, if there was a crime against bad taste ... . "

AOL News blogger Liza Porteus Viana notes if Obama were hanged in effigy on the West Coast, "The NAACP, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton likely would march on West Hollywood demanding it be taken down."

After learning of both hanging figures, WND reader Karen Carullo noted: "Tell the guy at Kentucky U., 'Don't get too upset. It's just art!'"

William and Robin Frazier commented: "We fail to see how the hanging of Palin is 'fun' and the hanging of Obama 'not.' They are both disrespectful. The one [person] who said it's fun for Palin to be hanged ought to be hanged."
