The Obama Tidal Wave

We are witnessing a political phenomenon with Barack Obama of
rare magnitude.

His speeches have inspired millions and yet most of his followers
have no idea of what he stands for except platitudes of 'Change' or that he
says he will be a 'Uniter'.

The power of speech from a charismatic person truly can be a
powerful thing. Certainly Billy Graham had charisma. Both his manner of
speech and particularly the content changed millions.

On the extreme other hand, the charisma of Adolph Hitler, too,
inspired millions and the results were catastrophic.

Barack Obama certainly is no Hitler or a Billy Graham, but for
many Americans riding on the Obama Tidal Wave it is just like a surfer who
might be ecstatic and euphoric while riding a tidal wave, but the reality of
the ride is what happens when it hits shore.



Just Some of What Defines Barack Obama:

* He voted for partial birth abortion.
* He voted no on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions.
* Supports affirmative action in Colleges and Government (quotas)..
* In 2001 he questioned harsh penalties for drug dealing as being
too severe.
* Says he will deal with street level drug dealing as minimum
wage affair.
* Admitted his use of marijuana and cocaine in high school and
in college.
* His religious convictions are very murky.
* He is willing to meet with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung
Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
* Has said that one of his first goals after being elected would
be to have a conference with all Muslim nations. Why?
* Opposed the Patriot Act.
* First bill he signed that was ever passed was campaign finance reform.
* Voted to allow law suits against gun manufacturers.
* Supports universal health-care.
* Voted yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo detainees.
* Supports granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.
* Supports extending welfare to illegal immigrants.
* Voted yes on comprehensive immigration reform.
* Voted yes on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social
Security.
* Wants to make the minimum wage a 'living wage'.
* Voted with Democratic Party 96 percent of 251 votes. (241
votes Demo, 10 votes Republican)
* Is a big believer in the separation of church and state.
* Opposed to any efforts to Privatize Social Security and instead
supports increasing the amount of tax paid into Soc. Sec. Tax
Increase.
* He voted No on repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax which now
hits middle income brackets. Tax Increase.
* He voted No on repealing the 'Death' Tax. Tax Increase.
* He wants to raise the Capital Gains Tax. Tax Increase.
* Has repeatedly said the surge in Iraq has not succeeded...which
is not true.
* He is ranked as the most liberal Senator in the Senate today
and that takes some doing.

If your political choices are consistent with Barack Obama's and
you think that his positions will bring America together or make it a better
place, then you will probably enjoy the ride.
If you are like most Americans that after examining what he stands for, are
truly not in line with his record, it would be prudent to get off the wave
or better yet, never get on, before it comes on shore and undermines the
very foundations of this great Country. We have limited time to save
America or the Supreme Court as we know it.

Inaction is action.

Quick on the heels of Google’s 10th Anniversary release of its 2001 version, one commenter sends along the c.v. for Barack Obama, Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago Law School.

RBO commenter Mel writes: The most important find is Obama’s DCP Director, June 1985 - June 1988 part of his resume where he states: “parent initiatives to reform public schools”.

This part of his resume places him in complete contact by Obama’s own admissions with Bill Ayers and the ABC Coalition that began in the fall of 1987 and finished its program after railroading every other coalition (likely visa vie ACORN) in the spring of 1988.

The find solidifies Obama and Ayers timeline to that date and time and is far more important than the CAC because it give greedence to everything that has been theorized about Obama and Ayers and the CAC appointment of Obama by Ayers as chairman of it!

Columbia University 1981-1983:

Janny Scott wrote October 30, 2007, in the New York Times that “Obama’s Account of New York Years Often Differs From What Others Say.” Janney writes that Obama started at Columbia in August 1983, but that he “barely mentions Columbia, training ground for the elite, where he transferred in his junior year, majoring in political science and international relations and writing his thesis on Soviet nuclear disarmament. He dismisses in one sentence his first community organizing job–work he went on to do in Chicago–though a former supervisor remembers him as ‘a star performer’. … Yet he declined repeated requests to talk about his New York years, release his Columbia transcript or identify even a single fellow student, co-worker, roommate or friend from those years.”

Experience 1983-1985

1983 - In his July 7, 2008, New York Times article “Obama’s Organizing Years, Guiding Others and Finding Himself,” Serge Kovaleski writes: “Before graduating from Columbia University in 1983, Mr. Obama had written to civil rights organizations and to black elected officials looking for work. No one wrote back.”

Edward McClelland, in his January 14, 2008, Salon article “Chicago is Barack Obama’s kind of town,” adds that Obama “read about” Harold Washington’s “victory” in winning the Chicago mayoral seat and “wrote to City Hall, asking for a job.” Although Obama “never heard back [from the mayor's office] he made it to Chicago just months after Washington took office.”

There is a minor problem with this “made it to Chicago just months after Washington took office” scenario. Harold Washington was elected April 22, 1983, in the general mayoral election and took the oath of office on April 29, 1983. See 1984 and 1985 below.


1984 - Janny Scott writes Obama “moved to Ralph Nader’s New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG), a ‘nonprofit organization that promotes consumer, environmental and government reform. He became a full-time organizer at City College in Harlem, paid slightly less than $10,000 a year to mobilize student volunteers.’”


1985 - Obama unemployed. Janny Scott writes Obama “answered an advertisement for a Chicago grass-roots organizer.” McClelland adds that, in 1985, “just out of Columbia University, he took a $10,000-a-year job as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago.” Scott adds Gerald Kellman interviewed Obama and offered him a job on the spot at Developing Communities Project for $10,000 a year and $2,000 to buy a car.

John B. Judis wrote September 10, 2008, in his The New Republic article “Creation Myth” Obama told Kellman in October 1987 he wanted to leave community organizing, go to law school, and become a politician.


1987/8 - Judis reports Obama trained organizers for the Gamaliel Foundation, which was backed by the Woods Fund.

Profile 1996

In March/April 1996, when Obama was running for the 13th Illinois Senate District, he was endorsed by the New Party (Chicago Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America). (h/t SayItAin’tSoJoe)

Barack Obama observed that Martin Luther King’s March on Washington in the 1960s wasn’t simply about civil rights but demanded jobs as well. Now the issue is again coming to the front, but he wished the issue was on the Democratic agenda not just on Buchanan’s.

One of the themes that has emerged in Barack Obama’s campaign is “what does it take to create productive communities”, not just consumptive communities. It is an issue that joins some of the best instincts of the conservatives with the better instincts of the left. He felt the state government has three constructive roles to play.

The first is “human capital development”. By this he meant public education, welfare reform, and a “workforce preparation strategy”. Public education requires equality in funding. It’s not that money is the only solution to public education’s problems but it’s a start toward a solution. The current proposals for welfare reform are intended to eliminate welfare but it’s also true that the status quo is not tenable. A true welfare system would provide for medical care, child care and job training. While Barack Obama did not use this term, it sounded very much like the “social wage” approach used by many social democratic labor parties. By “workforce preparation strategy”, Barack Obama simply meant a coordinated, purposeful program of job training instead of the ad hoc, fragmented approach used by the State of Illinois today.

The state government can also play a role in redistribution, the allocation of wages and jobs. As Barack Obama noted, when someone gets paid $10 million to eliminate 4,000 jobs, the voters in his district know this is an issue of power not economics. The government can use as tools labor law reform, public works and contracts.

Finally, Illinois needs an industrial strategy. How do we create more jobs for everyone? Illinois has no strategy for encouraging high wage, high productivity jobs.

Barack Obama is running to gain the Democratic ballot line for Illinois Senate 13th District. The 13th District is Alice Palmer’s old district, encompassing parts of Hyde Park and South Shore.

Mr. Obama graduated from Columbia University and promptly went into community organizing for the Developing Communities Project in Roseland and Altgeld Gardens on the far south side of Chicago. He went on to Harvard University, where he was editor of the Harvard Law Review. He graduated with a law degree. In 1992, he was Director of Illinois Project Vote, a voter registration campaign that made Carol Moseley Braun’s election to the U.S. Senate much easier than it would have been. At present, he practices law in Judson Miner’s law firm and is President of the board of the Annenberg Challenge Grant which is distributing some $50 million in grants to public school reform efforts.

What best characterizes Barack Obama is a quote from an article in Illinois Issues, a retrospective look at his experience as a community organizer while he was completing his degree at Harvard:

“… community organizations and organizers are hampered by their own dogmas about the style and substance of organizing. Most practice … a ‘consumer advocacy’ approach, with a focus on wrestling services and resources from outside powers that be. Few are thinking of harnessing the internal productive capacities, both in terms of money and people, that already exist in communities.” (Illinois issues, September, 1988)

Luckily, Mr. Obama does not have any opposition in the primary. His opponents have all dropped out or were ruled off the ballot. Note that it states that, after graduating from Columbia in 1983, Obama “promptly went into community organizing for the Developing Communities Project in Roseland and Altgeld Gardens on the far south side of Chicago.” Nice try. Not true. It didn’t happen until 1985.



Profile 2000

A February 2000 profile by The University of Chicago Weekly News provides some interesting details. At the time, Obama was running for the U.S. House of Representatives against former Black Panther Bobbie Rush.

At Columbia, Obama “developed his a lifelong interest in community organizations” and “became interested in political organizing in general”; Obama said he “was active in the anti-apartheid campaign that was very active on college campuses back in the early ’80s.”


Obama said he “worked as a journalist for a year after college and then decided I wanted to become an organizer”; he “started with an organizing job in Harlem.”

Meanwhile, the Developing Communities Project in Chicago, made up of a church leaders on the far South Side, was looking to hire a young organizer to address the many issues that to plagued their communities. Offered $12,000 a year and a $1,000 grant to buy a used car, Obama drove to Chicago and took the job.

“I started working right away with the churches,” Obama said. “A lot of the steel plants had closed. There was a lot of racial transition in the community; basically the entire area had gone from white to black and Hispanic in a decade. For three and a half years, I worked to set up job training programs and addressed issues concerning school reform, public housing, public health programs and city services.”


“After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1991, Obama wrote a book about his heritage and his father’s return to Africa called Dreams for My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, which was published in 1995.”


Obama “served as the chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which gave $50 million to school reform efforts across the city during the mid-1990s.”

On the matter of health care, Obama saw “a strong federal role in health care. ‘I think that ultimately we should provide some basic health care to all citizens through programs designed at the federal level, even if some of the implementation takes place at the state level.” (emphasis added)

There are several things to note here:

1. Obama says he was interested in “political organizing”.
2. Note that Obama now refers to the DCP funds he was given as $12,000 plus a $1,000 “grant”. In later versions of this tale, it is $10,000 and $2,000 for a car. This is the first mention of Obama driving to Chicago in said car.
3. Notice the multiple references to “school reform”.
4. Obama says in 2000 that he is in favor of providing “some basic health care to all citizens”, not just to some, as he proposed during the primaries

When Hyde Park State Senator Barack Obama packed his family off for a Christmas vacation in Hawaii, he thought he would rest up before a grueling Congressional campaign this winter. Instead, he created the first major issue by missing a key senate vote for a gun control measure.

The bill, which would have made unlawfully carrying a firearm a felony instead of a misdemeanor, failed in the state senate by six votes in a special post-Christmas session.

Obama said he was on a long-planned vacation to visit his 80-year-old grandmother in Hawaii and that his infant daughter became ill while there, preventing him from leaving early to make the vote.

Obama and the two other major candidates in the Democratic primary, incumbent Congressman Bobby Rush and State Senator Donne Trotter, all support the bill and have identical positions on gun control. But his rivals were quick to use Obama's absence against him.

"As far as doing the job he is expected to do for his community, [Obama] dropped the ball," said Trotter, who attended the special session and voted for the gun measure. Trotter said Obama's presence could have changed the outcome since several senators voted "present" to avoid taking a positions on the controversial bill when it appeared that there would not be enough votes for passage.

Rush contrasted his post-Christmas activities with Obama's. "I was working on a public service campaign to prevent gun violence over New Year's while Obama was vacationing," said Rush, whose efforts included running paid newspaper ads and making public appearances warning against gun violence.

"We have to keep fighting gun violence and that's where my focus is even if that is not where Senator Obama's focus is," said Rush.

The special legislative sessions were precipitated by a December 2 Illinois Supreme Court decision that overturned the 1994 Safe Neighborhood Act on technical grounds. That law made unlawfully possessing a gun a felony; when the law was overturned, the crime automatically became a misdemeanor again.

Called into special session by Governor George Ryan, the legislature agreed to pass constitutional versions of most of the Safe Neighborhood Act provisions, but a coalition of Republicans and Downstate Democrats balked on the felony penalty, arguing it was excessive and would unfairly penalize otherwise law-abiding citizens using guns for self-defense or hunting.

"The Safe Neighborhoods Act was a very important piece of legislation-the governor called us back three separate times [to revive it]," Trotter said. "Senator Obama missing the vote [helped cause] the piece of legislation to still be inactive. It's indicative to a point of the senator's lack of commitment on this piece of legislation."

Noting that Obama had voted "present" on an unsuccessful motion to reduce the penalty for unlawfully carrying a gun in 1998, the Rush campaign suggested that Obama's failure to show up for the vote showed lack of commitment to gun control.

"Senator Obama did not show up for the vote then [in 1998], and he did not show up for the vote now," said Rush.

Obama says that he attended the first special sessions and supported the gun felony legislation, but could not attend the last vote because of a family emergency.

"We had been in special session for a week before Christmas trying to get the issue resolved," Obama said. "The governor called another special session for the Wednesday after Christmas, and I missed the vote because I'd taken my family to Hawaii to visit my grandmother. My 18-month-old daughter became ill over there, so I was unable to return in time for the vote."

Obama downplayed the importance of the vote, saying that the issue will be reconsidered in the future. But he conceded that the senate may not get the chance to vote again this year.

"It's clear there are 30 or more votes, [enough for] passage in the Senate, but it's not clear that [Senate President] Pate Philip will let it come to a vote," Obama said.

I’m delighted to see that the team of CNN reporters I worked with on the Obama-Ayers connection has gone ahead with their report. You can see the video over at Hot Air. My hat’s off to CNN for being willing to air this. Also, while I knew about the Annenberg phase of this report, I had not known about the extraordinary revelation on the 1995 political coming-out party at Ayers’ and Dohrn’s home. Previously we’d thought that Alice Palmer, who introduced Obama as her chosen successor at that event, was the moving force behind the party. Now it seems that Ayers and Dohrn were actually the folks who arranged the event and apparently planned it with Obama. That is a very important revelation. Congratulations to Drew Griffin and his crew at CNN.

Morrissey: Obama’s “not part of the solution to Washington’s corruption — he’s part of the problem”

While serving in the Illinois State Senate, Obama facilitated “two grants that put state money in the hands of Michelle Obama’s cousin. Capers Funnye received $75,000 from Obama for his organization, Blue Gargoyle, for adult literacy and youth group activities.”

The Associated Press reports:




In 1999, Obama arranged for $50,000 for adult literacy and counseling services offered on Chicago’s South Side by a group called Blue Gargoyle. A $25,000 grant for the group’s youth services followed the next year.

The group’s executive director when the grants were awarded was Capers Funnye, a South Side rabbi and Michelle Obama’s first cousin once removed.

Morrissey adds:

So Obama had no idea that his wife’s cousin ran this group when he earmarked the money? That seems very, very difficult to believe. Funnye had to apply for the grants, and his name would have been on the application. Just the act of filing that application with Obama makes it clear that he sought favors from Obama, specifically Obama, and that Obama granted them.

Funnye claims that the earmarks (called “member initiatives” in Illinois) met legislative guidelines, but none existed during that period for earmarks. Legislators could spend taxpayer money without restriction and used the system to reward constituencies — and cronies. The governor wanted a major public-works bill passed, and in order to get that, made hundreds of millions of dollars available for politicians like Obama to spread around. In other words, the governor (Republican Jim Edgar at that time) paid off the legislature with earmarks that strengthened their political standing in their districts.

It’s not the amount of money wasted in pork spending that undermines democracy — it’s the mechanism itself.

Barack Obama reveled in that system. He sent money to friends and family (Michael Pfleger and Jeremiah Wright were two more recipients of his largesse) as an Illinois state senator, and as a US Senator, he sent money to his wife’s employer. Obama requested more than a million dollars a day in earmarks in his first three years in the Senate. He’s not part of the solution to Washington’s corruption — he’s part of the problem.

Obamadinga World Order: Corsi detained in Kenya

According to witnesses, Jerome Corsi, who penned “The Obama Nation”, upon arrival at a Nairobi hotel where he was to present his book, was “quickly whisked away” by Kenyan immigration authorities, who “plan to deport the U.S. author of a critical book about presidential candidate Barack Obama before a launch in Nairobi,” Reuters Africa reports.

“He was walking in and then some immigration officers who were following him snatched him,” a hotel worker told Reuters.

“It happened so fast, they just vanished with him.” …

Corsi’s book, which critics say is meant to hurt Obama’s poll prospects next month, questions whether he could still be using drugs and insinuates the Democratic candidate is Muslim.

Reuters reports that “Kenyan TV station KTN said Corsi may be sent home due to lack of a work permit. Kenyan government officials declined to comment.”

Moving on, Crilly continues his O.P.C. treatise thusly:

Jerome Corsi, of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth fame, was this morning being held after failing to reckon with Obamamania.

He had been planning to launch his book, entitled The Obama Nation Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality, before travelling to one of Nairobi’s slums to donate money to the Senator’s half-brother George, who was found living in squalid conditions two months ago.

Cilly confirms the Reuters Africa report that immigration officers had “swooped” up Corsi, with the added detail that it was “hours” after local newspapers had described him as the “author of a smear crusade”.

Of course, this is all Corsi’s fault, as Cilly informs us:

Journalists were turned away from the hotel suite where the launch was due to be held. “He shouldn’t have had anything in the paper this morning,” said one. “That was his mistake. He should have kept it secret.”

However, Cilly writes,

A source at Nyayo House, where Dr Corsi was being held, said the author had been detained for references made to Raila Odinga (shown here with Obama), the Kenyan prime minister, and allegations that his Muslim supporters had engaged in a wave of violence that rocked the country after December’s disputed elections.

The government of Kenya is holding WND senior staff reporter Jerome Corsi in custody at immigration headquarters after police picked him up at his hotel just prior to a scheduled news conference in which he planned to announce the findings of his investigation into Barack Obama’s connections in the country.

Corsi, the author of the No. 1 best-selling book “The Obama Nation,” was picked up by authorities at his hotel at 9:45 a.m. and is being detained at Nyayo House, the provincial headquarters for Nairobi.

“Just as we were about to start the 10 a.m. press conference at the Grand Regency Hotel in Nairobi, Kenyan immigration approached us and detained us. Tim Bueler, my publicist, and I are now in the immigration offices, with our passports taken. The immigration officer told the press, ‘There is no problem, and Dr. Corsi is a friend of Kenya.’”

Corsi had extensive meetings with top Kenyan officials upon his arrival. His visit and his activities during his stay have been well-known to authorities at the highest levels.

A senior immigration official in charge of investigations, Carlos Maluta was quoted by the Associated Press as saying: “We still haven’t decided what to do with him.”

Corsi remained in continual contact with WND editors by telephone and text messaging.

Corsi told WND he has been assured he will be released soon. He had planned to leave the country tomorrow, arriving in London first and the U.S. Friday.

Corsi told WND Editor Joseph Farah by telephone that Kenyan authorities claimed they were holding him because the immigration forms his party filled out for customs had been lost.

Update: Wangui Kanina and Humphrey Malalo reporting for Reuters from Nairobi, write that Corsi has been taken to the airport and is being deported from Kenya:

Local organizers of the book launch said Corsi broke no immigration rules but was considered an embarrassment. A recent poll found that 89 percent of Kenyans want Obama to win the U.S. election, versus three percent for Republican John McCain.

“His papers were found to be in order. His passport was fine, his visa was fine,” Corsi’s publicist in Kenya Peter Mbae told Reuters.

“But the government did not want him to launch his book on Kenyan soil. That’s why he has been deported.”

One Obama fan in Nairobi, Jack Okinyi, applauded Corsi’s expulsion. “His actions were highly provocative, that he dared bring such a book here. He was lucky that the authorities got him before Kenyans got their hands on him,” he said.

True to O.P.C. form, of course, Kenyan immigration “and other officials” “declined to comment.”

Additionally, The Guardian (UK), carrying the O.P.C. water, writes Corsi’s book contains “the false allegation [Obama] was raised a Muslim” even though Obama writes about it himself.

He was briefly held at immigration headquarters in Nairobi before being brought to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for deportation, according to Joseph Mumira, head of criminal investigations at the airport.

Note the source — Joseph Mumira, head of criminal investigations. Was Corsi being investigated for violating Obamamania “group think”?
