    Friday NCAA

    YTD 7-2 +9.1 units

Locked two in so far, still looking at others that I posted in the Friday Lookahead thread..

    2 Units

    Bradley -2

Forth seeded Bradley is looking to advance in the MVC tourney against fifth seeded Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa comes into the game winning its last two games, including a 79-70 victory against Bradley back on Feb. 20..Bradley has lost both games against UNI this year, and Im just banking on the fact that its said it very difficult to beat the same team three times in one year….If you look back at the stats from these games, UNI shot a ridiculous 55% from the field, and also, 55% from 3 Point range against Bradley….Does UNI keep shooting the ball this well??? I honmestly don’t think so….Also, UNI shot a season-best 63 percent from the field against Bradley on Feb. 20, including a sizzling 78 percent (14-for-18) in the second half. UNI was also 8-for-10 from three-point range in the game, making all four of its shots from behind the arc in the last 20 minutes of play.

Other facts… The Panthers are 9-13 all-time in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference tournament since joining the league in the 1991-92 season. UNI has a record of 4-6 all-time in MVC quarterfinal games, and are 6-8 all-time in their first game played in the MVC tournament (including opening round games). The Panthers have advanced to the title game twice (1994 and 2004), winning the championship three seasons ago. UNI and Bradley have met just once in the Valley tournament, with the Braves posting a 59-56 win in the quarterfinals of the 2001 event….. Bradley is 20-11, 10-8 in the MVC, having won four of its last five games. Four BU players average in double figures, led by Will Franklin at 14.7 ppg. Jeremy Crouch and Daniel Ruffin each average 14.1 ppg, and Zach Andrews averages 11.5 ppg and a team-best 7.1 rpg. The Braves, who play four guards most of the time, are one of the top three-point shooting teams in the nation, connecting on 43 percent of their treys, while making 10.4 threes per game….. Bradley holds a 23-11 lead in the all-time series, but UNI swept both games this year, winning 76-65 in Cedar Falls (Dec. 27) and 79-70 in Peoria (Feb. 20). This is the second time the two schools will have met in the MVC tournament, with the previous meeting being a 59-56 Bradley win in the 2001 quarterfinals. The two teams met on a neutral court one other time, on Dec. 31, 1994 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. That game, a 84-63 Bradley win, was played in Cedar Rapids due to repairs being made to the UNI-Dome roof that forced the game's move to the neutral site.

    Canisius -2

Eighth-seeded Canisius opens its 18th MAAC Tournament by taking on ninth-seeded Saint Peter’s. The Blue and Gold is on an eight-game losing skid, the longest current streak in the league. Canisius is coming off a 74-71 setback to Loyola last Sunday at home. Canisius is looking to end its losing streak against a team that they lit up in there earlier meeting, and saw Canisius beat them twice this year. I know I said in the earlier post that it is difficult to beat the same team three times in one year, but I am liking Canisius, led by freshman stud Frank Turner and Senior Cory Herring and Darnell Wilson to come ready….\

Quick Game Notes… The last time the Blue and Gold lost nine straight games was in 1987-88…. Canisius has lost seven games by four points or less, including two to third-seeded Loyola and one to second-seeded Niagara in overtime….. Canisius leads the all-time series 34-22 and has won the last three.
