SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) An internet based sports wagering operation is smashed open as police raid several homes in the greater Springfield area. The Massachusetts State Police Special Service Section Organized Crime Unit raided four residential locations in Agawam and one residence in West Springfield.
The search warrants for those locations led to the seizure of substantial records and documentary evidence that detailed a locally controlled internet based illegal sports wagering operation.
Computers were seized as well as thousands of dollars in U.S. currency. Records found over 130 wagering customers. The evidence seized will he reviewed by the Hampden County district attorney's office for potential grand jury presentation.
The five locations raided include: Mansion Woods Condominium 12D, 562 Suffield Street in Agawam, 700 Cooper Street, Agawam, 129 Tobacco Farms Road, Feeding Hills, 107 Red Fox Drive, Feeding Hills, 117 Bridle Path Road, West Springfield.
