How bout this? If we have a tie in any round after the first 2 rounds (still gonna use the total points tie breaker in round 1 and round 2), we could give the tiebreaker to the guy with the most overall wins, from the beginning of the contest.
Not only does it reward someone who has done well from the beginning of the contest, but this idea may also eliminate the potential cheating of copying all of your opponent's plays but one issue, since having the best record possible as the tourney rolls on and ties become more likely will become important, so I'd assume people would be more likely to try and do their best in every round, instead of not caring how many games they win, as long as they beat their opponent by 1.
Anyone like this idea? I personally think it's better, and more fair, than any of the possible tiebreaker solutions we've come up with yet, since many of us don't cap totals or prop plays, and i doubt anyone wants the outcome possibly riding on a guess at the total points in a game.
Also, when we reach the final four, i am going to take the plays by email, and then post them for everyone to see once I've received the plays from all 4 people....to completely eliminate any possibility of cheating. Actually, I could even do that from the elite 8 on if you guys would like....Comment

We ended up with 65 entries, and came up with the idea of putting #63, #64 and #65 all in the same bracket, and having a 3 man competition, instead of just having 2 guys having a playoff. That way everyone gets a chance to play in at least the first round.
I suspect however, that the 3 man playoff will not even be necessary, because i'm fairly certain that at least 1 or 2 of the guys who signed up will fail to post plays....in which case I will move either Yomonte or BlazerAndy to that spot....which is why I allowed 65 people to sign up in the first place, so that hopefully no one will advance by forfeit.Comment

Stiff, great job so far. However you decide to implement the tie breaker, is fine with me ( and I assume most, if not all, of the players). This is your gig, we're just riding along and very appreciative of your efforts. LET'S DANCE. BOL TO ALL.:goodjob: :jiggy:YTD

Stif for the grading I think with four people willing to do it(stif, jerbeek, birdsfan, and Willi) each one of us could get a bracket and grade it as the games end. You could do something like Stif-e.rutherford, Jerbeek-san antonio, birds-san jose, and willi-saint louis. I was thinking that printing each persons picks and putting them with the person they are matchup with to make it faster to grade. with the last game on starting at 9:45est the game should end at about 12est and the 2nd round starting Sat the grading is going to have to be done right after the last game ends. that is a ton for one person to do.NFL 0-0 +0.00units

I don't know if i can actually repost the original thread. I guess I'm going to have to post the rules over again. I actually deleted it when I was trying to unstick it....long story.
But yea, I was actually trying to get it back, but I think it's gone for good :bang:

OK, time to figure out who didn't post (I just know there are going to be some) and adjust the brackets.
Tactics (and everyone else who's interested i guess, lol), I will post in here who is to be replaced with who, if any...
I'll figure out what to do with the grading later tonight when i get things a little more organized the best i can.Comment

OK, we actually had 7 non-posters, and 2 "extras" who posted plays, but weren't in the brackets. I am going to include them, since we have extra slots.
I picked the seed numbers and names "out of a hat", to determine who would move where, and who would win by forfeit in round 1. Unfortunately we have no choice (that I can think of anyway), but to allow 4 guys to move to round 2 by forfeit.
Here's what needs to be done to the bracket....
Eliminate:
Q-unit
Beermantm
New York Buckeye
Big Pimpin
Flashpoint
Gambling & Golf
Cardiac Pack
Move:
Blazer Andy to San Antonio bracket, seed #8
Insert:
Habsfan99 into San Jose bracket, seed #12
Hamil into San Antonio bracket, seed #2
This should leave empty slots in:
San Jose bracket, seed #9
San Jose bracket, seed #14
San Jose bracket, seed #6
San Antonio bracket, seed #9
therefore:
FearTheRaven
RahStahMan
Homedawg
BlazerAndy
will win by forfeit and be automatically advanced to the 2nd round. Like I said, I wish I could do something about the forfeits, but there's nothing I can think of, and it certainly wouldn't be fair to let anyone post plays now anymore to fill the slots....so unless someone has some kind of plan, those 4 guys are going to get a "bye", and move to round 2 by forfeit.Comment
