I was thinking of this too, but wasn't sure how to fix it except for using totals....even though i must admit, I don't cap totals more than once in a blue moon, and I didn't exactly like the idea either.

Maybe when it gets to the final four and championship game, we could use your idea of the NIT final four games and then the NIT championship game too instead of totals? When are the NIT final four and championship games played in relation to the NCAA Tourney final four and championship game?

I'll see how it goes. Jerbeek also offered to help with the grading, and I have to admit it might be one hell of an effort.

I might need some help in the first round. Like I said, I'll have to see how it goes....but thanks a bunch for offering!

The NIT Final Four is like a week before the NCAA Final Four (at least, probably more). Plus, it's an NCAA Tournament, not an NIT Tournament.

You could possible use player to score the most points, player to have most rebounds, and player to have most assists as a second tiebreaker or different one then total team points. Just a thought?

The NIT thing seems like not a very good idea to me since it's has nothing to do with the NCAA Tournament.

How bout this? If we have a tie in any round after the first 2 rounds (still gonna use the total points tie breaker in round 1 and round 2), we could give the tiebreaker to the guy with the most overall wins, from the beginning of the contest.

Not only does it reward someone who has done well from the beginning of the contest, but this idea may also eliminate the potential cheating of copying all of your opponent's plays but one issue, since having the best record possible as the tourney rolls on and ties become more likely will become important, so I'd assume people would be more likely to try and do their best in every round, instead of not caring how many games they win, as long as they beat their opponent by 1.

Anyone like this idea? I personally think it's better, and more fair, than any of the possible tiebreaker solutions we've come up with yet, since many of us don't cap totals or prop plays, and i doubt anyone wants the outcome possibly riding on a guess at the total points in a game.

Also, when we reach the final four, i am going to take the plays by email, and then post them for everyone to see once I've received the plays from all 4 people....to completely eliminate any possibility of cheating. Actually, I could even do that from the elite 8 on if you guys would like....

I like the idea of emailing picks to you, not sure I like the idea of the tiebreaker being records from previous rounds. Like the NCAA tournament, it shouldnt matter how much you win by in a previous round, just as long as you win.

I am against totals but would rather that tiebreaker than the one you mentioned. The one you mentioned takes away possible cheats, but like I talked about above, I dont think it should matter how many you won by in a previous round.

However it turns out, its going to be fun.

A follow up to my last comments.

After thinking about it, Stif may have come up with the best plan. Stif is doing all the hard work here and I think the idea he came up with works and we should roll with it.

Of course were never going to find the perfect way to figure this thing out but it is going to be fun anyway, whatever way is choosen for tiebreakers is fine with me.:beerbang:
