UFC Fight Night 47, August 16th, Bangor, Maine
Fight Card
------------------------------------------------------------------
Ryan Bader vs. Ovince Saint Preux
Gray Maynard vs. Ross Pearson
Tim Boetsch vs. Brad Tavares
Seth Baczynski vs. Alan Jouban
Shawn Jordan vs. Jack May
Robbie Peralta vs. Thiago Tavares
Jussier Formiga vs. Zach Makovsky
Sara McMann vs. Lauren Murphy
Sam Alvey vs. Tom Watson
Frankie Saenz vs. Nolan Ticman
Nice to see Sam Alvey back in the UFC after The Ultimate Fighter. He fights out of Hendo's gym in Temecula, sports a four-fight winning streak, 23-5 record and only been finished once. He's fighting the veteran Tom Watson who's fighting out of Jackson/Winklejohn and has lost three out of his last four.
Don't know too much about Sara McMann other than her upset win over the Tank and loss to Rousey. She looks like her base is real good and can take a punch. Lauren Murphy is an undefeated fighter.
I'm a fan of OSP but I dont know that his striking is something that can capitalize on Bader's wild hooks. He tends to leave his hands down when he rushes inside with the hooks. Also, is Bader's cardio still suspect because OSP has pretty great cardio. Could start on the feet for first round, but OSP might be able to hold is own in a split decision.
I think if Ross Pearson is just as active as normal, he should be able to outwork Maynard. Lots saying his chin is gone and not that Pearson is super powerful, but the sheer volume of shots should keep Maynard's wrestling at bay.
Really interested in seeing Tavares vs Boetsch. The Barbarian has a great chin but just don't see him able to keep up with Tavares style for the entire fight. As long as Tavares doesn't blow his wad early, gas early he should be able to take control later in the fight.
