    Strikeforce: Overeem vs Werdum

    June 18, 2011
    Dallas, Texas

    Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum
    Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers
    Daniel Cormier vs. Jeff Monson
    Chad Griggs vs. Valentijn Overeem
    Jorge Masvidal vs. K.J. Noons
Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante vs. Justin Wilcox
    Magno Almeida vs. Conor Heun
    Nah-Shon Burrell vs. Joe Ray
    Mike Bronzoulis vs. Todd Moore
    Brian Melancon vs. Isaac Vallie-Flagg

I like Overeem here, obviously. He's seen what Werdum did to Fedor, and Werdum's standup is average at best. Werdum also was KOd in under three minutes by Junior Dos Santos, and Overeem's standup is better than JDS, in terms of finishing.

Barnett vs Rogers is going to be ugly. Rogers has some power and a decent chin, and Barnett is a doping cheater. Masvidal/Noons should be a good one, too.

More analysis later in the week!
    NFL 17: 45-47-2 // 48.91% // -10.12

    MLB 17: 151-140-8 // 51.89% // +5.65 ROR // +42.13

You're right.. Barnett vs. Rogers IS going to be ugly. Rogers is going to get trashed, and it will officially be the beginning of the end for him.

He gets thrown in the pit with a guy who finished both Schilt, and Hunt.. both decorated elite kickboxers.

Now all of a sudden he's in danger of getting KO'd by a guy who has only beaten Arlovski? I know Arlovski has a ROCK HARD GRANITE chin, but it's not all that impressive lol.

Barnett via EASY submission. I mean EASY. Rogers vs. Overeem domination ALL over again.

Hero, good to see you bud! Hope you're well and enjoying that Mpls heat. Duluth has gotten nothing but rain!!

You know, I just watched the vid of the weigh-in, and Barnett looks TERRIBLY out of shape, and Rogers looks like he is in the best shape of his career. This fight stinks something fierce, but I don't think Rogers takes this to the ground, and I don't know if Barnett is going to be able to take him there. If he stays on his feet, it's well worth the +300. I think I'll be seriously looking at this.

Only other comment is on Arlovski's chin - it's gone ala Chuck Liddell in the last few fights!

Good seeing you too, man. The warm has been nice. But we've been getting hit some big storms lately. Just last night actually - biggest rain/wind storm I've ever seen.

Rogers has faced only one elite fighter in his career, which was Fedor. Fedor trained minimally for that fight, and was outweighed by 30 lbs! Yet Fedor busted him up, and threw him down at will.

I'm not a big Barnett fan, but no one can deny he has one of the smartest minds in MMA. There is only a 2-3lbs difference in weight between these guys. With what Rogers is capable of doing, he had a MUCH better chance with Fedor.

Bottom line is.. the only way Rogers can win, is by KO. The the thought of him knocking out Barnett is a f&cking joke. -340 or so on Barnett is a DEAL. Same with that -200 or so Overeem had when he faced that pile of sh8t.

Thanks guys. Woke up late (gotta work in an hour), so missed most of the undercard - but looks like a lot of unanimous decisions, and a No Contest due to an eye-poke!

Going to pass on the Rogers +350 as it's been bet even higher, and heed the advice from Hero. Meanwhile Werdum has been bet down to +220 so that would have been my other one.

Going to take a pass today, but good luck fellas.

An absolute pathetic display by Rogers. He never had a chance, not in a million years.

These opportunities only come around so ofter in MMA where the talent discrepancy is just apples, and oranges.. yet the line is below -500. Oddly enough, the last time there was one, Rogers was involved with his match against Overeem LOL

Barnett really should of been around -1500. Great night! :beerbang:

I was able to catch that fight and you were completely right Hero... Rogers threw maybe once or twice? I was surprised though that Barnett didn't go after anything in the first round. His strategy worked though, tiring out Rogers with his flabby frame for the easy submission in the second. Good work. I hope you made some money!

Didn't get to see the main event, but it sounded like it played out pretty much what people thought. Overeem's standup vs Werdum's ground game. If I was Allistair I probably would have done the same, but it sounds like Werdum's standup surprised some people. Too bad he couldn't finish.

The Barnett/Kharitonov matchup should be another like vs Rogers, no? Kharitonov has power in his fists, but Barnett (ala his post-fight monologue) looks like he wants this and has a plan. I'd expect more of the same. Meanwhile the Overeem/Silva fight should be more of a slugfest, both have chins and KO power. Should be very fun to watch!
