Last week, the Texas Tech Red Raiders’ 4-game winning streak was snapped at the hands of Baylor in a decisive 59-35 defeat. Despite producing 455 yards of total offense, the Red Raiders gave up some costly turnovers and failed to get any help from the defense, which allowed five touchdown passes from Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson. As a result, Texas Tech was knocked from the unbeaten list in the Big 12 and will try to rebound this week with a difficult road trip against the TCU Horned Frogs. As things currently stand, the Red Raiders will enter Fort Worth as 7-point underdogs as they attempt to avoid back-to-back losses.

The Horned Frogs got a much-needed bounce-back win against Utah last week following an embarrassing loss to Houston the week before. TCU was nearly a full touchdown underdog to the Utes but produced a tremendous performance on the defensive side of the football. The Horned Frogs’ defense stymied Utah’s rushing attack and allowed just 267 total yards in a hard-fought 13-7 victory in Salt Lake City. While the TCU offense continued to be inconsistent, the Horned Frogs defense proved to be the strength of this team once again, and they will need another big defensive effort this week against a dangerous Texas Tech offense that is producing more than 450 yards per game as the 19th best total offense in college football.

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. TCU Horned Frogs Betting Analysis

In some insane way, this match-up between Texas Tech and TCU is going to expose either team’s biggest weakness. The Red Raiders have been terrible on defense; however, TCU’s offense has struggled tremendously. The Horned Frogs have produced just 100.5 yards per game on the ground, and QB Josh Hoover has been very inconsistent. WR Jack Bech is the biggest playmaker for the Horned Frogs offense, and he will draw a dream match-up against Texas Tech’s beat-up secondary. With that said, I’m not sure I have seen enough conviction from this TCU offense to warrant a reason to be 7-point betting favorites?

While the TCU defense has been solid, Texas Tech’s offense has the balance to attack the Horned Frogs in every way. Red Raiders QB Behren Morton has produced solid numbers with 1,926 passing yards, resulting in 17 touchdowns and three picks. Meanwhile, RB Tahj Brooks has already racked up 800 yards rushing and eight touchdowns on the ground. So far this season, TCU has been much better against the pass compared to the run. In fact, the Horned Frogs are only allowing 161 yards per game through the air. As a result, Brooks could get a lot of work early. Either way, this balanced offense can find ways to frustrate TCU’s defense, especially if the Horned Frogs’ offense fails to keep them off the field. Needless to say, this match-up goes back to the biggest weakness question. Is TCU’s offense the biggest weakness, or is it the Red Raiders defense?

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. TCU Horned Frogs Betting Prediction

I have nailed my last 5 CFB picks, and this one is looking like another excellent opportunity. I know Texas Tech has some serious problems on the defensive side of the football, especially after losing DT E’Maurion “Dooda” Banks for the season last week. However, I also don’t trust TCU’s offense going forward either. As a result, give me the team with the better offense that is receiving generous points to keep our winning streak alive!

Jay’s Pick: Take Texas Tech +7
