Over/Under Total: 44.5
Last week, I advised bettors to take the “under” in The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry despite the total (43) being listed as the one of the lowest marks on the board. The Bulldogs defense rose to the challenge by stymying the Auburn offense in an impressive 27-6 victory in Athens. On Saturday, the 3rd ranked Bulldogs will face another similar challenge when facing the no. 14. Tennessee Volunteers between the hedges at Sanford Stadium. While this should be another prime opportunity for an underrated Georgia defense to flex their muscles, this Saturday’s match-up is a much better opportunity for the Bulldogs offense to get things going, and that is why the 13 point spread will be the focal point of our betting approach.
QB Stetson Bennett is Georgia’s starter
In the last few weeks, Georgia’s quarterback controversy may have been somewhat overblown. Freshman D’Wan Mathis got the start in the opener but struggled, hitting just 8 of 17 passes for 55 yards with one pick. Junior quarterback Stetson Bennett came off the bench to revive the Bulldogs offense in the opener but was not named the starter against Auburn until late in the week. However, Bennett did not back down from his first start and posted a veteran type performance by going 17 of 28 passing for 240 yards with a touchdown. While the numbers are not eye-popping, Stetson looked solid, made good decisions, and protected the football, which is all Georgia needs to be successful.
The Bulldogs still have an elite running threat with tailbacks Zamir White and James Cook. Both tailbacks lack a ton of game-time experience, but they are getting better with each performance. With Georgia’s strong running game, expect more opportunities to open up for Bennett behind center and the playbook to open up as we move forward. Many people quickly forgot that Georgia lost a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball at the skill positions. However, the Bulldogs have a lot of potential and should only get better as the season progresses. With Stetson now the guy under center, expect the offense to feature WR George Pickens more often and more plays to come open in the passing game.

Volunteers riding 8 game winning streak
The Tennessee Volunteers are 2-0 SU on the season and riding an eight-game winning streak that has expectations sky-high in Rocky Top. While I would love to give Tennessee credit, I just don’t see the reason for the hype. The Volunteers have racked up eight wins against some really bad football teams. I mean, the Volunteers barely pulled out a victory against South Carolina in the opener, and they may be the worst team in the SEC East. QB Jarrett Guarantano is average at best, and you will not convince me otherwise. The Vols have a decent running attack, but that will meet the strength of Georgia’s defense on Saturday. Either way, you break-down this match-up, Georgia wins on both sides of the ball.

Jay’s Pick to Cover the Point Spread: I believe Georgia’s offense will get things going this weekend, and the Bulldogs defense may help spur on the effort. This Georgia defense is outstanding and they will prove it again on Saturday. Take Georgia -13. Hey! Did you know that you can still bet on games at -105 odds? 5Dimes leaving the market SUCKS but their old sister book split off and went their own way and still has the same great odds and betting platform you’re used to!
