The Boise State Broncos are looking forward to hosting San Jose State this weekend on the blue turf. The Broncos are coming into this game after crushing Hawaii in the middle of the Pacific Ocean last weekend 54-9.
The Broncos QB Kellen Moore had a career game against the Warriors. Moore threw five touchdown passes spread out between three different receivers (Young, Pettis, and Shoemaker). Boise State moves to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the WAC.
Boise State may have squashed the critics opinions who were not too impressed with their less-than-dominant efforts against Tulsa and UC Davis. The Broncos are once again in the hunt for a BCS Championship Game but some college football gurus argue that they dont have the strength of schedule or the clout to be there. However, it wasnt that long ago that Boise State knocked off Oklahoma in that memorable marathon game that put the Broncos on the map. Well see how things shake up here in a month or so. But they are at the mercy of the BCS dudes.
Meanwhile, the Spartans are anything but brave knights as they have only earned one win on the season and sit at the bottom of the WAC. San Jose State comes into this game averaging 16.5 points per game, and just 290 yards of total offense per outing. The Spartans running game is their weakness on offense as they only average 78 yards per game which works out to around 2.9 yards per carry. San Jose State also allows 33.5 points per game to their opponents.
The Broncos are averaging 40.4 points per contest and allowing 14.6 to the opposition. Bronco QB Kellen Moore is always the main threat on offense as he comes in to this matchup with 21 touchdown passes and just 2 interceptions. But Moore is not a one man show as he has plenty of weapons that make him look good. Receiver Austin Pettis is a favorite target for Moore and one of the best receivers in the WAC. Moore has a 67 percent completion rate which is pretty darn good in most coaches eyes.
The Broncos defense usually leaves it all on the field and this week will be no different as they know what is at stake. They are quick and crafty, and dont give up much. If the Spartans find a balance on offense they may get a few points but thats their best-case scenario.
The line on this game opened at Boise State -32. Most online casinos are currently posting Boise State at -35. The Las Vegas Hilton, Hard Rock, and Planet Hollywood are also showing the Broncos at -35 while the Mirage is at -35.5. The total opened at 52 but has moved to 56 at most books and as high as 57 at certain offshore sportsbooks.
Boise State is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Broncos are 42-18-2 ATS in their last 62 home games. The under is 6-2 in Boise in the last 8 games in the month of October. San Jose State is 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
The Broncos have won the last 8 meetings against the Spartans. This game will be all Boise State as they are simply the better team. San Jose States only hope is to get a share of the BCS money assuming the Broncos make it to a BCS bowl game.
Wilsons Pick: Boise State 63, San Jose State 3. Luck to ya.
