Last week, the LSU Tigers suffered a tough loss in a 55-49 shootout on the road against the No. 20 Ole Miss Rebels. In that game, I made a confident prediction that the 63.5-point total was not nearly high enough, and our bet on the ‘over’ covered with ease. This week, the Tigers from Baton Rouge will meet the Tigers from Columbia, Missouri, in an SEC showdown at Faurot Field. As things currently stand, LSU will enter this road trip as 7-point favorites and a slightly lower point total which currently lingers at 58.5 points.
Despite the loss last week, LSU is still very much alive in the SEC West race, especially when you consider that nobody looks unbeatable in the SEC this season. With that being said, the Missouri Tigers may present a somewhat surprising challenge this week after moving to 5-0 SU and into the top 25 rankings following a 38-21 victory over Vanderbilt. On paper, the Tigers are unbeaten with a quality victory over No. 15 Kansas State. However, the majority of the Tigers’ early season schedule has been composed of inferior opponents, and perhaps we will see just how “game” Missouri is on Saturday when it comes to better competition.
Trusting the Trends – LSU ‘over’ going for 10 in a row!
When you look at this game between LSU and Missouri from a matchup perspective, bettors can quickly realize that both offenses are scoring at an impressive pace. Missouri has scored 30 or more points in 4 of their 5 games this season behind QB Brady Cook, who is playing well with 1,468 passing yards which have resulted in 11 touchdowns without a single interception. WR Luther Burden III has proved to be a difficult matchup for any defense in the country, and that is something that is going to continue throughout the season. More importantly for this week’s matchup, LSU’s defense was just shredded by Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart, who threw for just shy of 400 passing yards with 4 touchdowns in last week’s loss to the Rebels.
In all honesty, LSU’s defense is just downright bad, and I believe Missouri will be able to contribute to those issues again on Saturday. While LSU has tons of firepower on the offensive side of the football with QB Jayden Daniels along with receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr., LSU’s defense is so bad that it has basically overshadowed the success of the offense. This recipe has resulted in LSU hitting the “over” in 9 consecutive games and often by a wide margin. In reviewing the matchups for both offenses, I think we should trust this trend to continue and expect a lot of points to be scored yet again.

- Missouri is 6-1 SU in the last 7 games at home.

LSU Tigers vs. Missouri Tigers Betting Prediction
As I alluded to above, I trusted the “over” with LSU last week against a dangerous Ole Miss Rebels offense, and I think that is the play here again. While Missouri does not have the creativity and speed of Ole Miss, I believe they will continue to stretch the field and capitalize on scoring opportunities. With a lower total at 58.5, I will take my luck with the over yet again.
