Les Miles, his ego, and the LSU Tigers head north to face
the so-so Mississippi State Bulldogs in a typically exciting
SEC October 5th clash this Saturday night! The Tigers have beaten the Bulldogs
13 straight times and 20 of the last 21 meetings. LSU lost to Georgia last
weekend 44-41 in Athens in a game exposing the LSU secondary as the Usual
Suspects in our investigation. Mississippi State is riding high in the
apple cart after invading Troy and dispatching the enemy 62-7. Mississippi
State is a surprise team in 2013 producing a high caliber offense and tough
as nails defense. Mississippi State has competed smartly with a few high
quality opponents (Oklahoma State, Northwestern, and Auburn) managing proud
performances in each of these contests. Lets look closer into this matchup
to pick a winner!
Mindset! Its hard being LSU. Day #1 of Summer Drills: Players, coaches and fans have National Championship glossed over their lips. Win and you are in is the Very Reverends alter-call giving all those surrounding the LSU program hope for the future. Then; go to Athens, enjoy watching in terror the LSU secondary after each snap performing a reenactment of the White House Easter Egg Hunt or acting out a Monty Python Germany vs Greece Philosophers Soccer Match instead of covering Georgia receivers! LSU loses andnow what? LSU doesnt think like most teams. LSU gets out of bed smelling BCS Championship breakfast and retires at night with BCS Championship pillows. The incredible jump from searching for the BCS Holy Grail and focusing solely upon winning the SEC title is a leap of universes. Oddly, in the past 10 years, after LSU has lost their very first game of the year, Mississippi State has been LSUs next SEC opponent 4 times. In those 4 games, LSU has beaten Mississippi State by a combined 133 points! The proof is the Tigers. LSU doesnt think like most teams. Thats why theyve been hugely successful.
Mississippi St. has been a question mark in the SEC since around the time Jackie Sherrill had the Bulldogs watch a Bulls testicles being filleted as a motivational tool. Coaches at Starkville traditionally keep their resumes updated unlesslike Sherrill—they venture into distortions and psychosis. As a rule, forcing anyone at any age to witness a castration for inspiration is the first step towards getting a gold watch. But, the GREAT thing concerning MSU heading into this game; a QB controversy! Bulldog QB Tyler Russell (threw for almost 3,000 yards and 24 TDs in 2013) bruised his noodles in the OK State game and is now cleared to play. Like a Soap Opera, The mysterious run-pass threat Dak Prescott has taken over nicely as bread-winner and MSU shot caller. My opinion? Competition makes for great playunless we get on the 2 QB expressway that destroys any teams chances of cashing a winning ticket. Examining MSUs history of almost, just a half of a step sooner, and almost made a great play the Bulldogs will implode becausewellMSU thinks like all the other teams that dont win.
LSU and MSU both put up decent points but comparing the offenses is like comparing apples with fold-up ladders; they are both real but the competition skews the stats! MSU is scoring at 34 points per game and sits 14th in the nation at points against because they beat Troy and Alcorn State a combined 113-14!! Throw those 2 punkins back in the patch and MSU averages 11.5 points per game while giving up 22.5 ppg! Cupcakes are served to children for a reasonTo make people feel good! LSU is hugely superior from inspection and history suggest that if MSU does take the field against an injured Tiger, MSU will be eaten alive from approximately 33.25 individual bites. The soap opera of the 2 QBs will cease when neither QB reaches the 50 yard-line and both QBs keisters hurt like nobodys business! The LSU secondarys Egg Hunt is solved Saturday night. Bring some towels to Starkville to wipe the egg off the face of any MSU supporter believing they have a chance. In Starkville on Saturday Night; We went to a football game and a Gallagher Concert broke out! So let it be written, so let it be done!
Tims Pick to Cover the Point Spread: LSU -9.5
