The Kansas State Wildcats will hit the road and travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma to face off with the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a Big 12 conference clash set to kick off at 3:30 PM EST on Saturday, November 18th, 2017. The festivities will be aired on ESPN2 for national audiences. The Pokes in particular have enjoyed success in this conference feud as of late, as they have won three of the previous four meetings between both constituents. The Cowboys have won the last two contests but they were hard-earned. Last year, the Pokes survived a scare in Manhattan when they defeated the Wildcats by a score of 43 -37. The last two fixtures between both parties was settled by a combined eight points. For Totals takers out there, the Over in this series is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 outings between these two combatants.
The Cowboys hopes of a Big 12 Championship are in danger as they need TCU to lose once or Oklahoma to fall twice in the final two weeks. Nevertheless, the Cowboys have stayed the course and are looking to finish the regular season with ten wins as they enter off a hard fought win against a pernicious Iowa State team. The Cowboys survived in Ames in an affair that was settled literally on the last play. Oklahoma State has a solid chance of possibly earning a New Years Day Bowl appearance if it wins out. Ironically, Oklahoma State defeats came in Stillwater this season despite boasting a loud and raucous fan base supporting them.
The Wabash Cannonballs also known as the Artist Formerly Known As The Kansas State Wildcats enter off a hard fought 28-23 loss when hosting the West Virginia Mountaineers. The defeat signalled the end of a two-game K-State winning streak that comprised of Texas Tech and cross-state rival Kansas. The Wildcats are a typically feisty bunch that should not be slept on. Though the Wildcats own five losses this year, they were a problem for both Texas and Oklahoma to get rid of them as both teams were forced to rally against this rugged team. Coach Bill Snyder knows how to work with what he has and thus he has powered some of his teams to perform above their station. 2017 could be classed as one of those campaigns for K-State be that they have sustained many injuries along the way.
In the early going we have seen an extensive lean on the Wildcats. Contraindications have emerged as the market has risen by three points to indicate action on the Pokes. However, in some markets the analytics have shown that 99% of the cash and 80% of the tickets are on Kansas State. When the consensus is this invested in an underdog, this has to raise red flags be that such an event is a rarity. In the Over/Under market, we have seen that number rise by just half of a point despite inclinations to book the Over given the trends that have emerged over a decade.
Undoubtedly, the morale of the Pokes is something that many will query given what has transpired to them over the course of this season. However, any chance for Oklahoma State to die on the vine would have occurred last week when they were in a notoriously hostile environment against one of the countrys most peskiest teams. The fact remains Oklahoma State survived and they are looking to finish strong even if their College Football Playoff hopes have been dashed. Indeed, the Pokes entered with a high ceiling this season and many will exclaim that they are just the same old Cowboys that lose the pivotal matches when it counts. Oklahoma State can quickly silence some of the scepticism if they can finish strong down the backstretch and make an example of a football team that lives to come off the radar. The Pokes wont make that mistake and they will take care of business in Stillwater. Well take the Cowboys and lay the lumber in this situation.
