Despite an ugly offensive performance, the Georgia Bulldogs pushed past the Florida Gators in a 34-20 victory in their annual rivalry game in Jacksonville. Despite throwing for 300+ yards with two touchdowns, Carson Beck’s three interceptions were among the major storylines as the Bulldogs offense struggled. Despite trailing 13-6 at halftime, Georgia’s defense flexed its muscles by holding Florida to just 228 total yards and also forced a couple of turnovers to swing the momentum back into the Bulldogs in the 2nd half. However, those struggles on the offensive side of the football have provoked concerns, especially with a daunting road trip scheduled this Saturday against the no. 16 Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford.
At 7-2 SU, the Rebels have already used their mulligans this season with losses to Kentucky and LSU, which means if Head Coach Lane Kiffen and the Rebels are going to make a college football playoff appearance, this Saturday’s showdown against 2nd ranked Georgia is a must-win scenario. Last week, Ole Miss delivered one of their most complete performances of the season with a 63-31 thumping over Arkansas. If the Rebels can get another complete performance and get past the Bulldogs, they would likely be in the playoffs, granted they take care of business against Florida and Mississippi State in match-ups where they will be heavy favorites. Needless to say, everything is in the windshield for Ole Miss in what can only be described as their biggest game and perhaps season-defining match-up against the Bulldogs this Saturday!
Georgia Bulldogs vs. Ole Miss Rebels Betting Analysis
The reason this match-up is somewhat complicated from a betting perspective is because both Georgia and Ole Miss have been relatively inconsistent when compared against the other top teams in the country. At times, Ole Miss has shown uncanny firepower on the offensive side of the football with QB Jaxson Dart, who is hitting over 70% of his passes, which have resulted in 21 touchdowns and just three picks. The Rebels have tons of talent in the receiving corps led by WR Tre Harris, and they can put immense pressure on opposing defenses. The problem is that as good as the Rebels look on paper statistically, they have been very poor in short-yardage situations and have stalled out far too many drives, which is scary against an extremely physical defense like Georgia.
Defensively, the Rebels are much improved than the defenses that have been under Lane Kiffen in previous years. Ole Miss is very talented along the defensive front and ranks 2nd in the country against the run, allowing just 82 yards per game. Georgia’s offense relies heavily on the ground game or at least the threat of the ground game. Last week, RB Trevor Etienne went down early with a rib injury, and that appeared to lead to big troubles on the offensive side of the ball. While Etienne is expected to play this Saturday, Georgia fans have to be concerned with QB Carson Beck’s turnover issues, especially if the Rebels defense is able to take away the threat on the ground.

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Ole Miss Rebels Betting Prediction
I think two things are culminating in this match-up which includes Georgia’s struggles on the offensive side of the football and the Rebels’ season-defining scenario. Both defenses are going to have the upper hand in this match-up, but I like QB Jaxson Dart and Kiffen’s play-calling to be the difference in a ruckus home environment. Give me the Rebels to get the job done!
