Florida State Seminoles vs. Clemson Tigers Betting Analysis

Looking at this Florida State vs. Clemson match-up, bettors are not going to find solace in backing Florida State frequently this year. With all due respect, the Seminoles are not a great football team, especially on the defensive side of the football. Luckily for Florida State, they don’t need to be great on defense against Clemson. The Tigers’ offense is in complete shambles, and the majority of the issues are at the quarterback position with D.J. Uiagalelei. Uiagalelei has been pretty awful, completing just 54% passing with four touchdowns and five interceptions on the year. In last week’s loss to Pittsburgh, Uiagalelei was benched late after throwing two interceptions, including a critical pick-six.

For anyone wondering, Uiagalelei will be starting on Saturday and the starter for the immediate future. The problem is that Clemson has made their bed at the quarterback position, which has turned their offense from one of the most potent in the country to a very one-dimensional average rushing attack. Even with a subpar defense, Florida State simply has to minimize the home-run plays, and they will legitimately get the opportunity to sell out against the run. On the other side of the ball, Clemson’s defense is very respectable, but they are not bulletproof, especially with the game scripts they have battled this season with a big negative in time of possession stats. Ever since the Seminoles turned to QB Jordan Travis, the offense has vastly improved, especially on 3rd down. If Florida State can keep drives alive and use running backs Jashaun Corbin and Treshaun Ward to wear this Clemson defense down, I believe they will have every opportunity to win this game outright.
