Bryant-Denny Stadium is misnamed. Bear Bryant we completely understand but Dr. George H. Denny former President of the University of Alabama? President Denny in the late 1920s through the early 1940s? I believe I sense a conspiracy pot-holing Paul W. Bryant Drive. Bama is primed for their home opener in Bear Bryant Stadium. The Crimson Tide tackles former Offensive Coordinator and new Colorado State Head Coach Jim McElwain. Dont be deceived, Colorado State will come to mix it up and Alabama is extremely talented and well-coached. A closer look into this intriguing matchup should give us more ammo to fend off defeat!
The word from college football pundits around the nation suggests the Alabama Crimson Tide aren’t quite as dominant as theyve been in past years. Experts point to national statistics that show Alabama as the 71st rated team in the nation in passing yards, the 73rd rated team in the nation in rushing yards, and the 71st rated team in the nation in points given up. Alabama is also 69th in the nation in Red-zone defense. Those stats place Alabama 86th in total defense and 73rd in total offense. For comparison, Army sits 1 position higher at #72 in total offense and a full 23 positions (at #63 in the nation) above Bama in total offense. Think about it: Would anyone, within the boundaries of a healthy mind, ever bet SU on Army if Bama was the opponent? Nuff said! Toss the stats and feed the pigeons; Alabama is a tremendous machine devouring anyone bold enough to challenge. Johnny Goofball Manziel might be the greatest offensive player in college football history, and Alabama was down by 2 TDs at 14-0. The last 3 plus quarters showed Alabama dictating their will over Texas A&M in every segment of the game; with the exception of Johnny Goofballs unreal athleticism and play-making ability.
Colorado State has a chip on their shoulder caused by the hiring of new Head Coach Jim McElwain. McElwain is an intense competitor and former right-hand man of Alabama HC Nick Saban. McElwains intensity and commitment to personal accountability caused CSUs 2-year starting QB Peter Thomas to transfer resurfacing on the NC State campus. Predictably, the Dry Cleaners had no laundry left for McElwain (might be why Fairchild was fired!?!) and theyve been out-everything-ed by Colorado and Tulsa before striking it rich with the Cal Poly Text Masters (unsure if that is the correct nickname?). McElwain has massive reconstruction surgery rebuilding the face of CSUs football program. Around September 28th, 2013 would be a good starting point for CSUs surgery to begin (against UTEP). Many Rams faithful still believe in fairy tales, saving lockets of hair, and toad potions but the convalescence CSU will require to exit this Saturdays on-coming train-wreck might need an extra week to find a suitable donor! Il Duce Saban will carve up his old cohort like a kindergartener making a scrap book. The amount of beating the Rams will endure (+39) will not be according to the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd string players at Bama. The measure of the beating will be closely tied to how Saban feels about the scout squad and the band participating in 11-on-11 tackle football. McElwain gets 2013 to ease into the Captains chair at CSU. After Saturdays game with Alabama, the Ram players might not be able to sit down for 2 weeks!
This game is like comparing the Space Shuttle to hang-glidingand just as apropos! Colorado is absolutely beautiful with the air filled Friends of the Program being lifted by the new Colorado cannabis laws. Alabama is a technologically advanced football team and this 2013 Tide offers more waves of punishing football per cubic centimeter than any team in college football. If Saban allows the band to play football, CSU will score. Otherwise: Schedule surgery for complete and immediate facial reconstruction beginning next Saturday for CSU.
