College Football Betting Odds
This week’s college football betting odds opened OSU at -3 over Texas, with an over/under of 58. Early betting action then added a hook to that spread and edged that total up to 58.5.
Longhorns vs. Cowboys Betting Preview
Texas is off to a 3-2 start to this season, after beating Baylor in Austin last week 27-16. The Longhorns spotted the Bears the first three points of the game, then used a 13-0 run to take a 10-point lead into halftime. Texas then drove the opening possession of the third quarter 75 yards to a touchdown to take control and hung on from there for the victory.
However, the ‘Horns allowed Baylor to score two otherwise meaningless touchdowns in the fourth quarter, resulting in a push of the spread as 11-point favorites.
On the day, Texas out-gained the Bears 429-316 and out-rushed Baylor 159-64. So the Longhorns have now out-gained and out-rushed three of their five opponents this season.
Texas started 2-0 this season with wins over UTEP and Texas Tech, but then lost back-to-back games to TCU and Oklahoma, both as favorites on the betting line. And the ‘Horns got out-played both those games.
Texas is playing against a season wins over/under of 7.5 for this season.

Oklahoma State, meanwhile, is 4-0 on the season after fighting off Iowa State last week 24-21. The Cowboys spotted the Cyclones the first seven points of the game, then scored touchdowns on two of their next three possessions to lead 14-7 at the half. OSU then gave up a 66-yard Iowa State touchdown early in the third quarter that tied the game but immediately answered with a TD of its own, later added a field goal and hung on from there for the victory and the cover as 2.5-point favorites.
On the day, the Cowboys out-gained the Cyclones 461-389, rushing for 226 yards on 51 carries. OSU also allowed 227 ISU rushing yards on 33 attempts, although 136 of those yards came on two plays.
The Cowboys have out-gained two of four opponents this season and out-rushed three of four foes.
Oklahoma State opened this season with a lackluster win over Tulsa, whiffing ATS as a 24-point
favorite. But the Cowboys have since covered 5.5 points against West Virginia, 21.5 against Kansas, and the 2.5 against Iowa State.
OSU is playing against a wins O//U of seven this season.
Longhorns-Cowboys Recent History
Oklahoma State beat Texas four times in a row from 2015-’18, but the Longhorns won last year’s meeting 36-30. Texas trailed that game 23-21 well into the third quarter, then scored the next 15 points for the win. However, the Longhorns allowed the Cowboys the score a TD with a minute and a half to go to give away the cover as seven-point favorites.
Also, that game played under a total of 72 points.

Texas may own the edge offensively, but Oklahoma State owns the edge on defense. In fact, this might be OSU’s best team in a decade. Oklahoma State is chasing its first-ever berth in the Big 12 championship game, and with a couple of big battles coming up, they’ll probably need this one to get there. We’ll ride with the Cowboys here, minus the points. Where are you betting your games? Does your book offer rebates on all your action, win, lose or draw?
