Tonight’s showdown between intra-state rivals highlights one of my favorite handicapping angles…Buy Low/Sell High. The Beavers have dropped 5 out of their last 6 both SU and ATS. Meanwhile, the Ducks have won 8 out of their 10, including covering four straight. This is the final regular season game for these teams and Oregon blows into Corvallis entering their third straight road game after having won and covered the first two.

No surprise that Dana Altman has the Ducks poised for another strong March run. Joseph Young and crew bring a highly efficient offense into this battle, while the Beavers tend to use their strong defense, led by Gary Payton II, to spark their offense. After some rough showings on the road over the past month, OSU will be happy to be home where they are 15-1 SU and 12-3 ATS.

When these teams faced each other in early January in Eugene, the Ducks took control of the game in the second half with solid shot selection and strong defense. They pulled away to cover the 8.5 with a 12 point victory. The young Beavers have improved since then and have made Gill Coliseum one of the hardest places to play in the country, as attendance is up 45% this season. With the home crowd behind them, Oregon State tends to be a different team and tonight should be no different as Oregon should fall a little flat after such an amazing run over the last month.

One side note, Oregon State boasts a young team with a great recruiting class next season. The Beavers, along with LSU, are two teams I’ll be grabbing futures on for the 2016 tournament as soon as they are available.

Mike’s Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Oregon State Beavers +2 win the “Civil War”.
