Battling the Books – 2 CFL Bets
A Two Pack of Free Plays for the CFL
I’m taking on the CFL this weekend, where I have a couple of games that fit some of the handicapping systems I use (three different methods for picking sides, four different methods for picking totals), including a very strong play for Sunday.
My record for CFL is 3-3.
(I don’t have my log book with me. If that record is incorrect I’ll add a correction in my next column.)
First up, Hamilton at Winnipeg, Under.
The handicapping method I’m basing tonight’s play on has a record of 9-7 all games, 5-5 for the Over and 4-2 for the Under.
I’m on the Under because I also have a handicapping subset of the play that’s 3-0.
Hamilton on the season is 7-3 to the Over, while Winnipeg is 1-9 to the Under.
Combined 10-12, slim edge to the Under.
Hamilton has gone over tonight’s number in four of their last five games, the fifth game being a push. In those games, they’ve averaged 59.4 points on offense.
Winnipeg has stayed under tonight’s number in four of its last five games. In those games, it has averaged 38.4 points on offense.
The outcome for the total in this game will be determined by whose style of play is going to dominate the game, the Tiger-Cats and their high flying offense or the Blue Bombers and their league leading defense.
It’s their first meeting this year, so there’s no head-to-head data to add to the puzzle.
The second play is from one of the three different ways I handicap to look for WF’s (Wrong Favs.) This one’s from WF1.
It’s 8-1 all games, 3-0 for home teams, 5-1 for Road teams. For Sunday’s game it says Edmonton should be the Fav on the road.
I already missed out on the best number for this, Edm +7′; the hook is gone now.
Montreal is the best team in the league with a record of 9-1 and a very healthy 7-3 ATS, but that ATS win percentage comes down a bit as they’re just 3-2 ATS at home.
Edmonton is just 3-7 SU on the season, but a healthy 6-4 ATS and even better on the road, like in this game at 4-1 ATS.
